Haha I hope you have an interview soon perfectpixie! I got contacted about 2 weeks ago, and had mine today. Very old man, but witty and acute. He couldn’t really answer most questions about Princeton, but was happy to share his experiences. He really tested my dedication to intended major, just since he had similar aspirations as me and regretted his academic path (though it all worked out for him in end). I think he was suprised at how much I’ve planned for the next few years. We had a great convo! Very amiable and I think it went fairly well. Good luck :)

had my interview yesterday. 2 hrs! yes, 2 hrs:) very casual and informal, but i think (i hope!) it went well. everybody’s saying princeton is very much reach for me, so im more realistic now.

i know this has probably been asked like everywhere, but i haven’t found an answer to it: how much do first semester senior year grades count towards your admissions decision? i mean what if you just drop from straight As to straight Bs or even straight Cs (not Ds and Fs).

They count quite a bit, in part because the sr year is often the most rigorous course schedule. Remember, P doesn’t look at freshman grades, so that puts more emphasis on the later terms.

Has anyone recieved an athletic likely letter yet?

big dreamer, thank you! Yes, that would ensure my sanity for the coming weeks, haha. I’m glad to hear yours went well. What is your intended major?

got2havk- You definitely must have done something right for it to stretch 2 hrs, so I’m sure it’s all good!

Are you guys sure Princeton does not count freshmen grades. Is there any evidence to back this up?

I had my interview yesterday! It went all right - it was only 30 minutes but we talked about a lot of interesting stuff. I was my awkward self though. Oh well.

@perfect pixie: Have you heard anything about an interview yet? I intend to study chemical & biological engineering, though that certainly could change!

I don’t know if this was purely coincidental or intentional, but Princeton matched me with an interviewer who does exactly what I intend to do after college. I discussed my intentions of working on sustainable water treatment facilities in Honduras and Central America (where my family is from) in quite a bit of depth on my application, and my interviewer does exactly that for a living.

PioneerJones, that is awesome

That’s awesome PioneerJones! This may sound weird, but the eduation path of my interviewer matched my intentions exactly! He works in my dream field, though not my dream speciality. That’s cool nonetheless ;)

That’s so cool PioneerJones!

My interviewer was a doctor, and science happens to be the one thing I’m not interested in, but it was actually ok–she was pretty intellectual, took loads of humanities courses despite being a molecular biology major.

big dreamer- Nope, not yet…
That’s cool. My intended major is Physics followed by Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. I think I’m leaning more toward the second one, but that only comes soph year, so enough time to think about that. Right now, I’ll just focus on admissions. ;)

PioneerJones- You should have no dearth of topics to discuss then. Good for you!

EDIT- The thread by PtonAlumnus mentions that one can be contacted for his interview anytime in Jan and Feb. So there’s still hope! That’s a really nice thread he/she’s got over there.

My interview was pretty bad–lasted about 15 minutes and the interviewer kept struggling to come up with new questions to ask. Sadness :(

mine wasn’t that long. I’ll reiterate the general sentiment that it was more of an information session than an interview. I got da scoop on more of the social scene and whatnot. At the end, he was like, “My opinion counts for almost nothing, but I think you’d love Princeton, and add a lot to the campus! If anyone asks, it went really well!”

nice to hear. also HE WAS A ROWERRRR

+1 to him

my interviewer won’t reply back to my e-mail!!! This is so frustrating.

my interview went well, i think. it lasted for around 1.5-2 hrs so that can’t be bad. i was originally contacted by the admission office saying that a person would contact me to set up an interview within 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and went so i finally took matters into my own hands and contacted my interviewer (i had been given his email) and set up an interview within days. just goes to show that persistence pays off lol :D

I’m sure you’ll have an interview of some sort! Princeton makes a huge effort to interview as many people as they can. And that’s great! I might switch my sophomore year too, though not something humanities-related. I just hope to get in lol, then I should think about classes ;)

omg like two monthssssssss
