Please post with any information on when, how or if Princeton might use the waitlist this year.
Last year there were 33 admits.

I’m on the waitlist too! I’m excited that I wasn’t flat out denied, and I’m really hoping I’ll have the opportunity to be accepted eventually.

How many available slots do you think there will be this year for waitlisted students?

"over the past 5 years the numbers admitted in May and June have varied from 0 to 164’-Janet Rapelye’s waitlist letter

Hi I recently got waitlisted for princeton university. I am honored they even considere my application. I was accepted to dartmouth, brown, cornell, and Johns Hopkins. So I’m happy because Ivies were always a dream for me and my struggling family. Where I come from no one gets into ivies from my school. but princeton will always be my number one. I was wondering if I can hope and if I can increase my chances in any way. I applied to their foriegn service and history departments.

waitlisted too…is anyone sending in updates?

If the WL is un-ranked, how does Princeton pick candidates from the WL? Randomly select?

@slang341 I read that the first cycle of acceptances is for filling in demographic, cultural, etc gaps in their class, and then, once they fill the gaps, they read apps again. I’m trying to find a link to the info.

Hi guys,

I got an email from an Admissions officer like 2 days ago asking if I could send him my AP scores as soon as as possible. I was waitlisted. Does this mean anything or is it like whatever?

@Doyouknowwhoiam I’m not a hundred percent sure, but that sounds HIGHLY promising!!!

I haven’t sent my tax returns yet…Could this be a possible reason for getting put on the waitlist? (Seen as lack of interest?)

My D got into Princeton off the wait list, so I CAN happen. She will be graduating this year. :)

Congrats to mrs college’s D!!
Is this the first waitlist acceptance of which we on CC are aware?

PrincetonHappy- MrsCollege has been a frequent member on the Waitlist board over the past year or two, and I’m almost positive that she means her daughter will be graduating from Princeton this year not high school, but that she was originally waitlisted in the admission process. So as of yet, no one has come out and shared on CC an admit from the waitlist!

For the Class of 2018

Yeah, I meant to say that my D will be graduating from Princeton this year. I don’t believe they start going to the WL until after May 1st when all the SIRs come in.

Thank you MrsCollege for your encouraging comments - I have been reading them all on last year’s wait list discussion. It is so lovely of you to help us!

Fiske2009 I know how you feel. Have you sent updates and let the admission office know that it is your dream?

The wait begins. Good luck everyone! I hope an international student with similar activities to me gives up their place so the admission officers will pick me to fill it :D

Thanks owwithay. I did send in updates. I guess all we have to do is wait. Does any one know when they start calling in May.

When should we find out whether or not Princeton will be using its waitlist this year?

Fiske2009 - my understanding is that they can call anytime from May 1. However, assuming that Princeton will be using their wait list, the admission officers need time to assess whether there are certain demographics that they need to fill, and to review the wait listed candidates’ applications. My guess is that it will be at least a week or two before they start calling.

Cbatarseh - I think we will find out when we hear of someone who has been accepted off the wait list (or maybe Princeton will publish an announcement on their website or The Daily Princetonian… Not sure if this is likely). Otherwise, we will not find out for certain whether Princeton will be using their wait list until June 30, because students who accepted their offers can still drop out through summer.

Anybody reading this please please please let everyone know if you or anyone you know have or has been accepted off the wait list for Class of 2018!
