@HPClee Hmm I’m still thinking about it! It seems too much of a hassle to change the entire essay for different schools. Maybe just small modifications.

Do you mind chancing me actually? I posted in both this forum and the chancing forum. I always thought that chancing was pointless, but now I myself became “one of those people” haha…

2220 SAT (CR 800, WR 720, M 700)
Math I 730, Chem 750
GPA 93/100

EC: founded company with 10K revenue, did environmental research for the provincial government, made an app to reduce drunk driving with 1K+ download in first week, community service at hospital/school/rehab, etc.

Good luck to everyone with the application process. I’m just done my common app essay and my supplement essay. I chose the topic where you use a quote from a book/essay as a starting point.

You think you’re unique until you come onto CC and see what everyone has done with their lives. Nevertheless I’m inspired, and I wish you good luck for SCEA! I’m not applying SCEA (doing RD), but Princeton’s just the dream :).

So I’ve finally decided to do Princeton SCEA, after a long debate between Penn ED and Princeton SCEA! It’s great to meet everyone and I wish all of us the best of luck this December!

2390 SAT (CR 790, WR 800, M 800)
Math II 750, Chemistry 760, Chinese w/Listening 770, US HIstory 760 (I know, super mediocre SAT II scores but I’m too lazy to retake this Oct/Nov)
National AP Scholar, National Merit Semi Finalist from California
3.93 GPA/4.0 (Unweighted GPA, school does not rank or calculate weighted)

EC: I’ll be super vague here for the sake of privacy, but my ECs are primarily centered around my major (East Asian Studies), published a paper on early modern Japanese foreign relations, involved with the United Nations on an international level, received a full scholarship this summer from the FInnish government for a cultural exchange program, principal flutist of a state-level youth symphony, founded my own Financial Literacy program after interning at a microfinance NGO in rural China, business editor of school newspaper, officer in NHS and MUN

APUSH rec should be glowing, AP English Language will definitely be strong but not as glowing

Counselor rec should be decent, but I attend a huge competitive public school in Northern California and counselors don’t know students too well

My Common App essay is a 7/10, Princeton long supplement is a 9/10 but it’s hard to gauge my own writing

Haven’t researched this much, but am I correct in saying that there is no way (i.e. easy, public on the web) to locate statistics (GPA/SAT) for the SCEA rounds at HYPS? I’ve looked - seen raw admit/apply rates, and the general qualitative message seems to be that the strongest applications come in this round so best guess is that maybe these will be in the upper quartile of the general stats…
sorry for intruding here, but this seems to be a good place to start.

Hmm I don’t think that information is publicly available but if you look through college confidential there are some really helpful threads, such as the Princeton class of 2018 SCEA results thread. You can somewhat gauge where you fall on the applicant spectrum by looking at their stats+extracurriculars.

@HPClee will you be applying SCEA? If not, you really have nothing to worry about. But I guess even if you were, it’s not that big of a problem- a lot of my friends started their application essays literally a week before the deadline and still got in.

Is it bad if my common app essay is about a significant experience in my life and my Princeton essay is #5 where I talk about another significant experience?

Haha I guess it’s alright as long as they’re about two different events. I’m also applying to Princeton SCEA, and I’m still working on my essays.

@knoxclark3 If you indicate in the Princeton basic questions section that you intend to submit an arts supplement, there’s a link that will direct you to the arts supplement website. But I don’t think you can submit your arts supplement before you submit your whole application; I’ve tried.

I actually found a quote that fits but the only problem is I did not read the book the quote is from. I know who the author is but I found the quote by randomly searching online.

Do you think that is OK? Will they ever find out?
