@norik95 My D accidentally submitted the architecture supplement instead of the art painting supplement. This was a few days before applications were due. When she discovered her mistake, she submitted the correct supplement and emailed admissions to let them know. Within 24 hours, they emailed her back acknowledging the correction. My D thought she would be rejected because of her mistake. She was accepted RD and is a sophomore at Princeton. I tell you this because Princeton admissions not only responds, but they have no problem with small mistakes.
I have notice that Princeton admission are very responsive !
@KSB2019 My D was admitted to Duke, Davidson, UNC, and Princeton. All are meet needs schools. Duke and Davidson offered 7k loans per year a reasonable sum from us and the rest paid with grants. UNC offered nothing because we were instate and middle income so we would pay instate tuition/room and board. Princeton offered no loans, we pay a reasonable sum, and the rest covered by grants. Their offer made it more affordable for our D to go there than instate tuition room/board at UNC. So she went to Princeton.
Makes applicants feel like they care. Even if the probable outcome is rejectionâ:sob:
Absolutely !!!
By the same token, a weird interview doesnât mean you wonât get in. My daughter had interviews with YHP. H was fine. Y was over-the-top wonderful â the interviewer even sent daughter a copy of his effusive recommendation. P interview was odd and ended abruptly. Results: H = no ⊠Y = no ⊠P = Welcome to Princeton!
Our EFC on FAFSA was about $53000. But Princetonâs generous grants have our bill at less than half that. Compared to Emory ($36000) and Vanderbilt ($52000), Princeton was a bargain.
This is very helpful. Thanks for the details.
We are waiting on Princeton and a few other Ivies and LACs, and I am hoping that COA will be less than FAFSA EFC at some of these CSS schools. If she gets in, of course!
Similar to our financial aid at Princeton as well.
I think interviews donât matter at Princeton. My son accidentally declined an interview and he got in. Interviews are to make the alums happy and to keep them engaged is the perception on campus.
My kid had the same experience. Maybe they had the same interviewer! Itâs great to hear that it didnât adversely affect her decision.
Also great information! Very encouraging!
Thank you for posting.
out of the class of 2025 what seemed to be the pattern in admits? It seems that Princeton is a very volunteer and civil service-focused university, so second-guessing - civil service can potentially boost the profile? (this sounds too pretentious, sorry in advance)
My son is in Mayorâs Youth Council and he had an interview with Alumni in Jan, all As, SAT 1550, top 3% of his class, total 15 APs, NMF. Does he have a good chance?
Thanks!!
We did the online calculator that @neela1 suggested⊠holy cow⊠it will be cheaper to go to Princeton that Univ. Of Michigan in stateâŠ
Thatâs how it rolls most of the time They have money overflowing out on to the streets.
Yes. Our experience is that if youâre middle income, attending Princeton is less expensive than instate COA. And according to Princetonâs financial aid chart (I donât know if they still have that posted), families who make up to 250k per year can still expect some financial aid. Iâm curious to see if theyâll adjust their aid for inflation in the upcoming awards. I hope so.
Hey, your son and I have practically the same stats! Iâd estimate our chances to be more than the regular 5% simply because there are people who are auto rejects, so maybe 10% - 15%? But to be honest, it doesnât really help us to speculate right now. Ivy day is 11 days away and all we can do now is wait and try not to worry about it⊠Best of luck!
should low gpa (3.9 weighted) student have to hope for an acceptance? I know that this is a miserably low grade for Princeton, but I want to know if thereâs any possibility of getting in.
Does anyone here still have withdraw button on their portal? apparently mine is gone, and when i try to access it it says access denied. This is highly likely an indication of rejection tho.
How did you get to that conclusion?
