Hey guys,
I'm HS class of 2010 and today I received the Princeton Book Award. I was wondering what it means? I never considered Princeton because I didn't think I had any chance to get in (especially applying as a math major). I was going to apply early to Brown, but now this is making me wonder whether or not i should wait until RD and apply to Princeton during RD and see if I get in. Does this award say something to colleges??

I also put this in the Princeton University area.

It doesn’t help much, but it can’t hurt.

No, it doesn’t mean you have any “in” at Princeton. Stick with your Brown plan and only apply to Princeton - which is so completely different from Brown is so many ways - if you actually want to go there.

Right. It means that you were the student chosen by faculty or whomever does the choosing at your school as the one who best met the criteria for the award. Typically an alumni group gives the award and you should certainly put it on your college resume…but it doesn’t give you an edge in admission.

Lol, I got that yesterday, too. No idea what was going on. I tripped and fell on my way to the stage.

But yeah. The book was pretty lame, but the honor was nice… I guess? I mean, it’s just another award to write on our resumes for academic achievements, but I don’t think it’s a big deal at all. Nothing to change future plans and stuff about; I’m still early decisioning to columbia so… yeah.

Good luck!
