bump.....................

bump...........................

Your numbers are fine, your published poetry is something unique, but I am wondering whether you have published any poetry since the age of 10. The school paper is a good thing to be doing, but they will be looking for something beyond your school, something that shows how you've taken your particular interests and done something unexpected with them. They will be wanted a strong sense of what makes you tick, what drives you, how you will contribute your creativity and energy to campus life...The way you've described yourself above, you sound like a very good student who is in many activities, but I am not getting a sense of more than that. I don't mean to sound harsh; you may have these qualities, but you need to convey them on the application more than you are doing here.

yes, but beyond the poetry thing, Im trying to form an image of a social actions activist for my self. That is, my leadership role in the Jewish Student Union, my activism in my Synagogue, my excellence in the Secondary school (Hebrew College) are all directed towards this image.

Do you think this is enaugh to create this image?
If not, what else can I do to improve it?

That "image" will need to be conveyed as you portray yourself in your essays. You will need to help them understand what these activities mean to you, how they have changed you, what drives you, what you dream of accomplishing in the future.

your numbers are high and your ec's are good. present your self as a write/english person/etc and you'll be very competitive. i'd suggest submitting some of your work too.

admissions is a complete crap shoot though, so don't count on anything. apply to your favorite schools and a few will be bound to accept you.

I think your Jewish/Hebrew focus is quite interesting, but I'm not sure how many other applicants will have the same profile. Maybe aparent5 or others could provide more info on this. In general, though, your info sounds good but I think you need to highlight something else in your application, maybe take your poetry a bit further, or maybe use your skill with horses to make a difference communally. If you're really passionate about horses for example, you could reconnect with the autistic kids you worked with and maybe start teaching them to care for horses, some of them you could teach to ride or you could do some research to see if working with animals can be therapeutic in some way for autistic kids. Basically you need to add another aspect to your application. What else are you passionate about and how can you link it together with the rest of your interests?

That is deffinately a nice idea!

I am also quite passionate about politics. Although i never joined the debate/speech club, on the school paper i wrote political commentary and analysis for the past 3 years.

In addition, as part of my activism in the Jewish community, I worked to support the Zionist cause, both by organizing and coordinating events in the Boston Jewish Community, and by educating those around me about the situation by means of my position in the Jewish Student Union.

Another thing I forgot to mention on my original thread, is that For the Past 2 years Ive worked in a Jewish Youth organiation called "Young Judea", which not only organized events but also helped initiate and fund summer trips to Israel for Jewish High school students.

I hope this is enaugh to promote my image of a Jewish 'political activist'. If not, what else should I add?
