Any word guys? Or anyone you know who’s heard back? Is it common for Princeton to hold out till mid June?
A bit of a different question: so I recently graduated and was surprised to find out that I was among the top 5 students in my class out of around 250 at a relatively challenging public school (no, we don’t have a valedictorian/salutatorian, and no, we never find out our class rank ). At the time that I submitted my apps, I put down a class rank of being in the top 10%, but because there are so many people who apply who are in my position or have done better, would this “update” of being in the top 1-2% of my class even be worth mentioning? Thank you in advance!
Well, I don’t see why not. It certainly is quite an accomplishment. But do you have some proof to back up what you write to them? I mean something like a certificate or a letter from the guidance counselor or something. I don’t claim to know anything, but I do suppose they’ll want proof of your achievement.
For instance, I placed fourth at a national examination written by over 100,000 candidates, so I did write to Princeton to tell them of it, and attached a scan of the marksheet and certificate to the email.
Okay, thanks! I’ve already sent them one letter of continued interest, but I will ask to have this update added.
Has anyone heard back yet? :-/
Nope. We’re all doomed
Hi guys. Have you – or anyone you know – had word from Princeton?? Has anyone heard something a little more specific from the admissions office? Maybe approximately how many more places they might consider offering?
I called the admissions office on June 2nd. They told me the wait list would certainly close by June 30th for sure, but they may be releasing people around the 15th. They told me that they already took people, and that they were in the process of reevaluating the class size.
If you ask me, I do not think that this is looking good for us. They are probably done, but they hold onto the wait list just in case someone leaves for whatever reason and to lessen the sting of the eventual rejection. Princeton is my dream school, and while I still am holding on to a little hope, I need to come to terms that my dream is over…
Where is everyone currently planning on going (if not Princeton)? I honestly was shocked when Princeton put me on the waitlist considering the fact that pretty much every other school I applied to denied me. The best school I got into was UW-Madison. Best of luck to everyone.
@KendallLeigh I’m off to Cambridge if Princeton doesn’t work out. What about you?
stanford! honestly couldn’t be happier with where i’m going…stayed on the waitlist for the parents. still, a bit upsetting to know that princeton doesn’t want to admit me even after a second look :((
But I thought IB results do not come out until July 6th? @krishdesai
Off to UChicago if Princeton doesn’t work out!
@greysanatomy3113 yeup, IB results do come out in early July. So…?
So how do you know you are going to Cambridge? I thought it was conditional offers sorry
I’ll be joining Brown University if Princeton doesn’t work out!
@krishdesai, when do you take the STEP paper?
@greysanatomy3113 it is conditional but not on the IB. I didn’t study the IB curriculum at school anyway lel. It’s on this pair of absolutely crazy maths exams called STEP 2 & 3. But yes, point taken, if I mess up the STEP, I’ll be left with no where to go really. But since I’ve studied harder for this exam than I have for any other exam ever, I sincerely hope it works out.
@collegemom3717 one paper is tomorrow and the other is the following Thursday, the 23rd. How had you known I was writing the STEP
You can do it!! @krishdesai
@krishdesai, it’s part of the standard offer for Maths and Physics at Cambridge Know a fair few people who have sat it. Good luck
