Couldn’t find a thread for this year’s waitlist. Anyone think Princeton might use its waitlist this year after the 2 past years of not using it?
Never say never, this year is a bit different than the last due to COVID19.
Cornell is already pulling from their waitlist, could be that Princeton will too.
Good luck!
So quiet here. I wonder how many are on the waitlist this year.
Too quiet
Anybody sent letter of continued interest to the admission office? Or just accept WL in the portal?
Also hopeful for Princeton’s waitlist :). I really hope we have a chance this year. Princeton is my dream school. Where are you all from? I’m from Frederick, MD.
My roommate just got off the Princeton waitlist!
@calltomuster did they get a call?? and what time?
@xlandke Yes, she got a call from a man from the admissions office! It happened at about 10:45 AM EST or so.
?
If they took from it already maybe there’s some hope for this week?
Are the chances of an international student being admitted off the waitlist lower because of THE COLLEGE fearing about visas etc… rather than the other way around? Even if the student would attend no matter what as long as they are allowed on a plane to the us? Are they flat out going to fill the spots of internationals who don’t commit because of covid-19 with domestic students from the waitlist to avoid the same thing and do yield protection?
I’m talking this year and because of covid-19 ofc.
Any news at all? Waiting is such a pain.
Looks like Yale achieved target yield. Is there still hope for Princeton WL students?
@whcj46810 Some people got off the waitlist on May 1…so possibly? I mean I don’t think they’d accept before 11:59 on commitment day if yield was strong.
I wonder how many got off WL on May 1?
Princeton admitted 73 more students last year and the class size was about 40 above their target size. This year, if yield stays the exact same from last year to this year (which it probably won’t) then Princeton would be admitting about 9 people off the waitlist to achieve a class size of 1300.
They probably already took 9 off WL on May 1.
I called them this morning and they said that at this time they didn’t know if they would take anyone off the wait-list.
@whcj46810 They will most likely need more than 9 people. rocker27’s prediction only holds true if yield is the same as last year’s, which it probably isn’t (it most likely dropped). Further, they couldn’t have known exactly how many people they’d need to take off the waitlist before 11:59 on May 1; accepting people before that time indicates they were sure enough they’d have to take some people off to take some people early.
@kwarry I think they always say that. People have already gotten off, after all.
