Our list is similar. Hoping both our kids get something, but they already have some good ones!
It rarely works like that. It wouldnât be unusual for someone to be rejected at USC and then get into an Ivy. Near the top of you are competitive but without specific hooks, results are all over the board based on the subjectivity of how AOâs reacted to all the other aspects of an application. If you read other posts for schools already decided youâll see consistently unexpected mixes of people getting into harder schools than ones they didnât get into. That doesnât mean getting in isnât an extreme long shot, but other school results donât harbinger outcomes either way.
Thank you so much! She got another rejection tonight for NYU, so sheâs a little bummed. Still holding out hope for Thursdayâs though. Good luck to you
Yes! Good luck
Yes she did. Also Duke, I forgot that one
Not too long to wait now.
Daughter has a bunch of great acceptances already in hand (Amherst, Williams and Swarthmore among others) but Princeton is the dream. Also waiting on Brown, Yale and DartmouthâŠ
Deferred REA, but had strong interim submissions, so hopefully there is hopeâŠ
With those that have already accepted her, sheâs sure to have a bright future! While declines are hard, theyâre there for a reason, sheâs not meant to be at NYU. Sheâs meant to be exactly where she ends up. And itâs going to be fantastic for her (& you, mom!)
Youâve got this! We all do⊠(just getting there is a challenge.)
Accepted at USC(CA), UNC(Chapel Hill), UCLA, UCSB, UCSB, Villanova, San Diego State, Penn State Honors
Waitlisted at: Davidson, Bostin University, Rice, W&M, Fordham
Denied: UTAustin, Northwestern
Waiting on Princeton & Duke
You know, the upside to the spam from the person lying about the financial aid portal is that I actually went out to look (I know, I know), and I did see we had some missing docs for Princeton financial aid. So, I went ahead and uploaded those! Now Iâm worried we missed some at the other schoolsâŠ
Same here! Just uploaded some docs yesterday and asked kid to check other colleges as well.
Just posted by the undergraduate admissions officeâŠ
which docs did they request?
They wanted parentsâ W2 and signed tax returns for 2021. We hadnât received an email notification that anything was missing after the email requesting we fill out the Princeton Financial Aid Application, but looking back, that email did say we could log back in after 24 hours to upload supporting documents, which evidently we never did.
Rejections mean nothing. My son had a couple of rejections last year and then admitted to Princeton.
Down the home stretch with this application. Good luck everyone.
We found out a couple of days ago that a student from our same country was accepted in EA (S23 was deferred)âŠso the outlook is extra tempered. Still has plenty of great choices on the table.
we had that with Stanford. However 2 from our district was accepted to Caltech. You never know!
I knowâŠI knowâŠMy Princeton alum nephew just told me the same thing and said that a few years ago they accepted two from another Central American country. Thereâs just very few students from Latin America accepted every year.
Fingers crossed.
No one from our district EVER attends Caltech. Most kids donât even know the school exists, We live in Illinois.
Good luck to everyone!
Dear xxxxx,
I am sorry to inform you that we are unable to admit you to Princeton University this year.
Our large and talented applicant pool contained many students whom were in the admissible range. Over the past several weeks, our admission officers reviewed files diligently, thoughtfully, and carefully. As we do each year, we made every effort to weigh each studentâs achievements, talents, and skills within the context of their secondary school setting. We took into consideration the vast differences among the various learning environments represented in the pool as well as the upheaval that has taken place in schools as a result of the pandemic over the past few years.
The admission committee appreciated the time, care, and effort you put into the materials you submitted. Ultimately, the strength and size of this yearâs pool dictated our choices and even candidates who had exceptional credentials could not be guaranteed a spot in the class.
I recognize that this is not the decision you wanted to receive. While all of our decisions are final, please know that the committeeâs conclusion doesnât at all reflect your ability to succeed in a rigorous college environment.
Thank you for your interest in Princeton and for giving us the opportunity to consider your application.
Best wishes,
Karen Richardson â93
Dean of Admission and Financial Aid
