@mcurie Yes, decisions were released 12/16 last year. I framed that piece of paper:) My daughter did a skype interview on the 13th December, that’s 3 days before decisions were released, so we were pretty sure they already knew they were going to accept her. Good luck everyone!!!

@Pburgmom Do you think they wouldn’t have given her an interview if she were to be rejected/deferred? Does anyone know of applicants who were given interviews close to the deadline but were rejected/deferred?

@NotIvyYet can you add me as well?

@NotIvyYet The answer to this

really can’t tell you anything. They are case by case situations, not some grand protocol.

For my Ivy, I was asked, last minute to interview two RD applicants who, due to lack of alumni slots, had previously never been assigned an interviewer. The AO must have found something compelling in them and their files must have advanced beyond the “first cuts”. The AO wanted an alum write up if possible. I conducted the interviews – both were “strong” ie. above average. Come decision time, one was rejected, the other offered WL and never admitted.

It’s case by case. There’s nothing to read into it or patterns to analyze, see?

@NotIvyYet me too, please!

@NotIvyYet Sounds like a good idea! Please PM me too

Just had my interview! Tried to look nice in a dress and flats while my interviewer showed up in her gym clothes, chewing gum. It was pretty laid-back and lasted about an hour. I brought my resume and she asked about my activities, nothing hard to answer. We also talked about the campus culture. She said interview reports are due at the beginning of December. To all those still waiting for their interview–don’t stress too much. They just want to get to know you better.

@NotIvyYet Please add me to the groupme as well :smiley:

@NotIvyYet I think Princeton likes to grant as many interviews as they can. My daughter’s interviewer was traveling for business during the weeks leading up to SCEA decisions, hence the very late interview. I followed this thread last year and came to the conclusion that interviews held very little weight in the admission process. Because students who apply SCEA still have a chance for admission during regular decision, they keep scheduling interviews throughout the process.

@sunrisereader did you have a chance to ask your interviewer questions about Princeton? If so, what kinds of questions did you ask? Glad to hear it went well!

@NotIvyYet That sounds great! could you PM me with the details?

@boundless Thanks! I did. I asked mostly about the student experience, like her favorite classes, what she thought was most unique about Princeton, what she would change, etc. And I asked other relevant questions as they came up in the conversation.
