@NotIvyYet can you please add me to the GroupMe too? Thanks
@NotIvyYet Can you please add me as well? Should I PM you my number? Thanks!
@NotIvyYet Me too please. Just had my phone interview. Is it just me or is it less about grilling you and more about your motivations and about questions you might have?
To those who are expressing (understandable) anxiety over the interview, allow me to offer my perspective as a parent whose son attends Princeton. When he went on his interview, he felt it went fine, but nothing special. After he was accepted, he later met with the interviewer at a social gathering. The interviewer was happy and surprised because no one they had interviewed had ever been accepted. My sonâs response was that this made sense about the perceived lack of excitement during the interview itself.
So, take that into account. The interview is just a piece of the puzzle. And the interviewer himself or herself is human and brings their own issues to the table (for good or bad). I would just say to relax, be yourself, and ask questions to determine if you would be happy at Princeton. Itâs not all about persuading the interviewer about how great a candidate you are.
@NotIvyYet totall count me in on the groupme- I would love to join!
And guys, I would seriously chill with the interviews- as someone who has had mine already, it was super relaxed. As for the scheduling dates, I donât think it has anything to do with if youâve been accepted/denied. The pton website says itâs based on location- some placed donât even have a local Princeton rep and therefore donât get interviewed- I think it just depends on where you live!
Also- fun question: so I recently just did a ted talk and I was wondering if there would be a good place to send it in? I of course mentioned it in the extra parts of my application and asked them to check the Tedx website and my linkedIN, but I definitely want to make sure it gets sent in. The date of the presentation was even after the art supplement was in so there was no way to send it earlier. Any tips?
@MCurie if you mentioned it in your commonapp additional info section, Iâm sure theyâll view it. They went to my sonâs website (I saw a Princeton IP in the website logs during the SCEA application review period)
@ChartresBlue is on point here:
100% this. Donât stress about your Princeton results, work on your safety apps, enjoy your life.
@NotIvyYet can you pm to add me to the groupme as well? Thanks!!
Hey guys! I think Iâm one of the ones expecting a rejection. International and my stats arent great
GPA: Unweighted 4.0 (school doesnât weigh)
ACT: 35C (36M, 36S, 34W, 32E) / I also did SAT and got a 2280 but I am not sure whether I should send it.
SAT2: Biology 770 / Math 2 800 / Physics 800
APs taken: AP biology 5, AP English lang 5, AP calculus AB 5
APs going to take: AP macroeconomics, AP chemistry, AP physics C (both parts)
ECs:
-Multiple volunteering types in my home country during summer (80 hours total)
-Sport in my local club
-Electricity and water authority in my country organised a robotics competition and I was selected (no positions since it is still ongoing but I am going to include it nonetheless)
-A lot of leadership positions and extracurriculars in my school that I cbf to list lol
(^^here is my weakness but i think I have a valid reason. Probably not gonna mention tho so I donât look like Iâm giving excuses)
Recommendation:
Economics teacher: I donât know but I heard she gives really good ones. 8or9/10
Math teacher: 10/10 for sure. She loves me and thinks Iâm some sort of genius lol.
Counsellor rec: should be good
Essays: (really counting on this part)
-Common app one: Iâm not sure but I think this is a 15/10. Almost everyone who read it told me its the best college essay theyâve ever read.
-Supplements: Not done yet but trying hard here.
Oh well, best of luck to all of you!
@JAHSS2 Thereâs nothing you can do at this point, and thereâs no one on here that can accurately predict your chances.
If you want my 2 cents, I think your stats are amazing. But then again, people better than you have been rejected and people worse than you have been accepted.
So what Iâm trying to say is: Only time can tell.
Just have fun to get your mind off of all this :).
Thanks @psywar !!!
@JAHSS2 âMy stats arenât greatââŠ35 ACT, 800 Math 2, 800 Physics, 770 Biology, 3 5âs on AP Tests, 4.0 Unweighted⊠If you honestly donât think your stats arenât great enough, withdraw your application
Itâll increase the chances of those that actually believe in themselves (with lower stats) and donât have to rely on otherâs compliments/comments on CollegeConfidential to boost their confidence⊠As we are ALL seniors and almost all of us are around the age of 18, we are ALL growing not just physically, but mentally too, and if you donât think you are good enough and create negative thoughts in your head, then you probably shouldnât be applying to Princeton. At a certain level, no matter how much work you put in and how great of a college you go to, you wonât truly succeed until you believe in yourself. Those are great stats and you know that. Donât turn to CollegeConfidential acting like those stats arenât good enough and have other people constantly tell you how theyâre amazing just so your confidence can go through the roof. If you truly donât think those are great stats, spend less time scrolling through posts and more time building up your self-confidence!
I sincerely apologize if it somehow came off as condescending or as an attempt to get others to flatter me. I was referring to my ECs not being great rather than my marks. At least thatâs how Iâd judue my ECs after being on this website long enough.
I know that we can only speculate, but where do you think admissions are along in this process? Do you think theyâve pretty much finished going through the EA round and just finalizing stuff or if they are still working on it?
I have an interview this Tuesday, so I thought that theyâre not quite finished yet. Then again, multiple people have posted that theyâve received interviews just two days before their decisions came out. What do you guys think?
@JAHSS2 I understand. There are just sooo many people on here that post amazing stats and say that their â34 ACT isnât high enoughâ or that their â770 is absolutely horrible,â and it degrades those who donât have as a high of stats and ruins their self-confidence. We are all anxious seniors waiting for acceptances/rejections with awesome stats and we need to support and encourage each other on here! Any test score that falls within or slightly without the average is AMAZING. A 30 on the ACT is AMAZING because itâs in the 30s! A 700 on a subject test is AMAZING because itâs in the 700s! I have met sooo many people that got into Ivy Leagues with a 23/24 ACT (and they got into MORE THAN ONE), so your test scores are really a minor part of the application. The essays are what really carries you.
But for your extracurriculars, I see why you would be a little concerned. What exactly is the reason why you couldnât participate in more? And did you mention it in the âadditional informationâ section?
@NotIvyYet can you pm and add me too? I donât come on the website often
@JAHSS2 maybe it wasnât meant as such but you have to understand that when you say youâre expecting a rejection and then state that your 35 ACT is not great but your essays are 15/10 it makes others (myself included) feel badly about our own applications. I myself am skeptical about whether you are being genuine. There are far too many people on CC complaining about their stats when theyâre in the 99th percentile. Complaining about such scores has no purpose other than demeaning others.
