@sunrisereader last year decisions came out on December 16 which was a Wednesday. They opened the portal up at 3pm est. My daughters friend, who attends Cornell got her decision a whole week before Princeton. If I remember correctly, they applicants received an email to let them know. You can check last year’s thread for details. It was a crazy time! Good luck to all ~:> The chicken was a emoji the kids were using last year to wish each other good luck!
In less than three weeks, we will all know whether we’ve been accepted… can’t believe it!
I am expecting a deferral, but I would absolutely welcome a pleasant surprise
I did some research on past threads and the Princeton website. These are the dates of the past SCEA decisions. Maybe they could help us predict the release date for this year? I also threw in the admission rates for kicks and giggles.
Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 – 18.6%
Monday, December 15th, 2014 – 19.9%
Monday, December 16th, 2013 – 18.5%
Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 – 18.3%
Thursday, December 15th, 2011 – 21.1%
According to past Princeton SCEA threads, the decisions usually come out around 3pm EST.
The amount of applicants has also roughly increased each year. Last year, 2015, Princeton received the largest SCEA applicant pool ever (9.8 percent increase from 2014 pool).
Please note that the early action program was eliminated in 2006 and reinstated in 2011.

I personally predict them to come out Tuesday, December 13th or Wednesday, December 14th. If I had to bet on just one date, it would be Tuesday, December 13th because, apparently, some other selective schools are releasing on that day.
I know a few people said maybe the 16th, but that is a Friday. I think it is highly unlikely that they release it on the university’s last day before winter break. The latest I can see them releasing it is Thursday, December 15th. Yet, even then, I think Thursday is unlikely, as it does not fit with the latest release trends. I also do not think Monday because, if they receive an applicant pool size similar to last year’s, they may need extra time. I think that is why they strayed from the previous pattern of Monday release dates.
20-ish days left! Good cluck everyone ~:> ~:>
@Pburgmom Thanks for the insight!
Hope everyone is clucky 3 weeks from now ~:>
Has anyone heard/read about how many applicants there are in the SCEA round?
@Testingearly Last yr’s # was 4229, so based on trends, I predict 4600-4700 SCEA applicants vying for 830-850 spots. Pton posts actual statistics on the day decisions come out
Thanks @IvyKid1. I am hoping the trend is increasing #s of SCEA application is interrupted this year due to Yale’s significant uptick in applicants.
@Testingearly That’s a good point!
@Testingearly Do you have data to suggest that is true? I’ve read the article saying that they’re adding new Freshman housing but have they announced actual numbers?
@IvyKid1 Do you have any idea that out of the estimated 4600-4700 SCEA applicants, how many will be international applicants?
@derpro Idk. They said kids from 33 countries got admitted early last yr. 11% of 2015 SCEA was int’l, so about 86 kids
Have anyone of you had your counselors submit 1st quarter grades from senior year? If so, how?
@NotIvyYet the Yale Daily News reported a couple weeks ago that SCEA applications were up 9%. http://yaledailynews.com/blog/2016/11/15/early-applications-increase-by-9-percent/
@juniorivy My son was admitted on Thurs Dec 15, 2011 (class of 2016) so Thurs Dec 15, 2016 is certainly a day the decisions could be released. As a point of interest, my son’s class over-enrolled by about 58 students. This was the first year of reinstating SCEA.
@Testingearly Interesting! Have the other Ivies announced how many SCEA apps they recieved? I know Princeton has not.
Ridiculously wound up about decisions! I’m expecting a deferral too, but who knows what might happen. Good cluck everybody! ~:> ~:>
Can someone answer my question from above please? ^
