Student709, I had my guidance counselor submit my first quarter grades (because on the Princeton website it said to, if they are available) through the optional report on the common app.
You seem to be a very rational and wise person. I personally enjoyed reading your candid yet tactful words towards other fellow CC bloggers. It really helped boil down for me the purpose of college applications: to be comfortable with yourself and giving your accomplishments thus far sincere value and pride. @treasurehunter3 That honestly means so much to me, so thank you! At a certain point this year, I’ve realized that if you put yourself out there and are not accepted, why would you want to go to a school that just doesn’t want you for some reason? Ya know? Also, I’ve finally (after about a year) accepted the fact that you don’t NEED to go to an Ivy League to succeed in life. Yes, it will definitely open up a greater amount of opportunities for you, but college is all what you make of it. I hope you get into Princeton (or whichever your top school is) and remember to BE YOURSELF in the application and especially the interview! Be proud of everything you’ve done because honestly, just applying to these schools is an amazing accomplishment by itself. Good luck with finishing applications and ultimately fighting through your senior year!

@efitghr Thank You! Has anyone else reported first quarter grades through the optional report? (I do no think it would hold much weight even if I send it in, but I do not want to miss it thinking it is not important since I had A’s anyway.)
My D talked to her GC yesterday about sending 1st trimester grades in her case but the GC said she couldn’t otherwise she wouldn’t be able to send Mid year report. Sounds to me like the GC doesn’t fully understand how to use the technology available but I’m not going to push my D to get on the GC’s bad side. The GC said she’d give her a paper copy with an explanation and signed by her and that my D can upload via the portal.

Wait @Dolemite if our school is on a semester basis, is it okay just to send in the mid year report? I don’t think my school can even send things into colleges based on quarter
^^ same, for me the semester technically ends before winter break but teachers don’t have to turn in grades until January 4th or maybe later
@Mcurie Princeton says they want First Quarter Grades if available for EA. If your school doesn’t have them available then you are fine.
@student709 I’m not sure why my D’s GC can’t do that, but the school has had students apply to Princeton in the past so I’m not going to push it.
Do you guys think that SCEA decisions will come out on Monday, December 12? It would fit the trend of Princeton releasing SCEA applications on Monday (besides last year :D). Also, it would coincide with Columbia’s ED date as well
@Bobaballs It seems like all of the ivies have released their decision dates except for Princeton & Penn. Most are on the 14th, and Yale is the latest, releasing decisions on the 15th. I think the 12th may be a bit of a stretch-- hang in there!
