In surveys and rankings Princeton regularly appears among the nation's top 20 in campus attractiveness and student happiness. In its opening description of Princeton, one of the more popular College Campus Visit Guides states, "gorgeous, offering the best undergraduate education in the nation".
These Campus Visit Guides, which can be found in most libraries, discuss nearly each of the items you listed, often giving an insider's tip as to the school and area attractions. They can be very helpful.

As to crime, to the best of my knowledge, it is a non-issue at Princeton. Princeton is in an attractive, well to do suburban location. The Princeton public school system is highly competitive (I believe second in the nation among publics as to the number of students it sends to HYP).
The campus also has its own train station which allows one to visit New York City or Philadelphia fairly easily. Both are approx. 45 minutes away.

In researching these issues awhile ago, I came across a P'ton thread in the archives by a Cornell student who grew up in Princeton. He fielded many, many questions about what life in Princeton was like. My recollection was that he was generally quite positive about the locale. It might be worth the effort to find it.

Besides the eating clubs, some of which are opened to underclassman on Thursday-Saturday evenings, there are always at least a few performances and activities going on, between all the acapella, dance, theater, and musical groups on campus. Periodically, there are professional events at McCarter theater, most of which offer student discounts. The residential colleges sponsor trips to New York (most frequently, Broadway shows for $20), and it is fairly typical for students to go into New York independently now and then. During the week, there are almost always guest speakers or lectures and dinners with various professors.

2.Princeton is pretty safe. However, there have been a few sexual assaults this year, which is worrisome. There are also thefts now and then, particularly of bicycles.

Um.... the campus is really, really, pretty, with a few exceptions.

The climate here really varies, although it does get exceedingly bitterly cold in the winter. But when its warm out (september through november) its really nice and beautiful.

Here is the thread where a long time Princeton town resident took questions:

I remember when i was little my mom would take my sister and I on these long drives just to get out of the house...one time she drove us out to New Jersey but instead of going to the shore we ended up at Princeton's campus...all i can say is that is sooo pretty. Even the campus buildings themselves are wonderful and they just seem so majestic..i really loove the campus and its much safer then a lot of other places like trenton or philly or new york...

I'm a high school student who lives close to Princeton. In fact I went to Halo Pub yesterday for ice cream. =D

1) Honestly I could see myself getting bored in Princeton. As a local resident there is very little to do on a regular basis. As a college student, though, I'm sure the university provides several events and activities to participate in. You won't find clubs or (many) bars unless if you take the train to New Brunswick. You can easily take the Dinky (very close to the Princeton campus) to the Princeton Junction (w00t!) train station and then go to New York or Philly or New Brunswick. Nobody uses buses as far as I know. Actually I don't think they even go through Princeton.

2) Plenty safe!

3) Princeton itself is beautiful. Around it is some hardcore suburbia, though, so get ready for miles of road and upper middle-class drama. xP Plus, New Jersey has one of the worst environments in the nation, but Princeton is one of the better areas. It's cities like Newark, Jersey City, and Camden (for crime, at least) that bring us down. Princeton is the pride of Jersey.

4) TONSSSSS of cicadas when they come out! They won't be out for another 15 years or so though. They came out last year. I heard they would fall out of all the trees in Princeton when you walked down Nassau xP. Creeeepy. Oh yeah, and Princeton has a huge deer problem. I wouldn't worry about that, though, unless if you're planning on bringing a car.
