<p>It says on princetons website "You may submit your application to Princeton by January 1 and receive a decision from us by early April."</p>

<p>Common wisdom is that most colleges allow a little slack with dates. It allows time in transit for mailed apps, and also boosts the number of apps for statistical purposes. Naturally, it's best to comply with the stated deadlines.</p>
<p>This was explained a couple of times, but they generally know that January 1st is a bumper-to-bumper time with US Postal Service and will give a few day giveor take for your application to get in. They wont through down the rules so long as it's in their hands, in some form within the week.</p>
