Are you sending your applications to other colleges out now or after Dec. 15th?
Can you get a refund if you withdraw your application, or do they keep the fee?
I was planning on waiting until after the Princeton notification came back, but dunno if that's a good idea.

Im not sending out any regular decisions til after december 15. iu dont think u can get a refund? why is not sending out til then a bad idea? i havent even started on other apps yet

I'm waiting on Princeton before I send. I don't believe you get a refund back. If I get good news, I'd consequently save over $200 in application fees.

I think i'd be saving $500 or so. They definitely don't give you a refund, and then you have to withdraw stuff. Just wait, it's perfectly fine to send it in december.

As for the word limit, they say "about" 250 or 500 words, not like some schools (like columbia and brown) where the online app says that they cut you off after 3500 characters. I think it's fine to go over a bit for pton.

Does anyone know if the SAT/AP score reports are due the 11/1 deadline for ED applicants?

Do we even have to send AP score reports?

we don't have to send AP score reports until after we get in, they aren't technically s'posed to use them for making admissions decisions, so they can't get an official report during the process, they can only ask us to self-report

In other words, it's optional, but they'd like to see an official report, yes? Hmm. I'd better get the ball rolling on that one, then....

Sry about interupting this on-going topic, but i have a quick question:
For the short personal questions on fave book, fave site, etc, should the answers be about a few sentences, explaining the reason? Or should i keep it simple with two or three words?

And beside the point, i would just like to applaud all the topics covered in this one thread. I can read through this and find opinions and tips on almost every aspect of the app. So just a personal thanx to all of you!

Kayoshin, I did a little of both, depending on the question. For example, I explained my favorite keepsake and source of inspiration. But when it came to listening my favorite film, album etc., I just put the title down.

I didn't explain anything.

I don't think you should waste money reporting AP scores. You're going to take more this year and they don't want the real report until after you get it (and want credit) anyway.

SAT reports obviously can't be due 11/1 for the november test, but you should get it sent if you're not taking anymore.

i just put one word answers for everythign. its just to learn who u are. they arent looking for essays or even sentences

should our essays be double spaced or single?

College app essays are always single spaced---I'm using either Times New Roman or Garamond font; those two are usually the easiest to read. They also look like book fonts. Fonts are really an opinion thing, though, so it doesn't matter. Still, I would definitely not use anything cursive/flowery like Lucida Handwriting.

When we mention an award, should we attach a copy of the certificate/proof of award? Or is ok to just mention the accomplishment?

Just mention the award. They'll believe you--you have to sign a statement at the end promising you haven't lied or "embellished". Only attach something if it absolutely has to be clarified or if it was something unbelievably prestigious. I did an activities/awards/experiences list and went into more detail there but didn't attach any certificates.

Remember, they're taking your word for everything--essays, ec hours, and all--because they don't have time to verify every award. It may be a bit risky for them, but there are extreme measures taken against people who lie, get admitted, and then found out. I heard that less than 1% lie, though...that's pretty small.

ah kk, thanx kebree

Hey, has anyone applying ED not mailed in yet? one of my teachers hasn't written a recommendation yet and an optional hasn't been written yet and i'm still working on my essays

OT: Happy belated birthday, Zantedeschia! Missed by a couple of days, heheh. The big 1-8 has arrived. You...are...a...woman. Enjoy your newfound superpowers ;)

I've only done 3/4 of one essay. 1 rec isn't in. Don't worry, encomium, we'll get it done....i think.
