Good idea! I'm from Oregon, which will help a little, but looking at last year's ED thread there were two people from Oregon with great stats and it was 0 for 2 on acceptances.

Unfortunatley Princeton isn't the most northern of the southern clleges anymore. You've got Vandy, Duke, and Virginia and of course Auburn! lol... I'm sure soem more will be coming along though.

I think it the dependence on Federal city that makes Northern Virginia seem almost northern. The land is southern, but the culture is fading with the influx of yankees. It is sad... I mean you would think the yankees could drive in snow...

yeah dude, i have problems labeling virginia as southern as well...historically it was a southern colony and confederate state, but i still picture the state with a more northern mentality

Overall, the distinctions bewteen North and South are fading as people are moving every which way. I mean my family moved north actually. We had lived in Alabama since the dawn of time practically, but now I'm living north of the Mason-Dixon line. But there is one thing that seperates me from my neighbors: three ancestors at Gettysburg wore Grey and two fell.

Yeh, Southern Viriginia is very southern still. Ever been to Danville? lol... And Northern Viriginia is nicer than the city. I've got an uncle in the area and it isn't a bad place to raise a family, but it isn't really southern anymore. It is American.

Born in Kentucky, raised in a really jewish (dads palestinian, moms a lutheran pastor) private school on scholarship and now applying to princeton from an inner city public school, I suppose I can say I'm not sure what I am...
