hey guys, anybody here know about princeton engineering? i know that it is ranked really high but what makes princeton's engineering program stand out? why is it different from other engineering programs at top universisites?

um, only thing I can think of is the small class size. Some engineering departments have less than 10 ppl in a graduating class for that major.

Princeton has a top engineering program, especially at the undergraduate level. It also has a great computer science department. Here is a ranking based on research quality. Obviously, in other engineering rankings, Princeton may not fare as well because it is smaller. Most rankings are biased in favor of huge engineering diploma factories that produce larger numbers of graduates, like the large state universities (which are also great; they just generally aren't as high in overall quality as some smaller places like Caltech, etc.).

Also, amacing is correct that schools like HYP and Caltech, plus Dartmouth, Swarthmore, etc., generally have smaller class sizes, because they are very well-endowed and therefore spend much more on a per-student basis than anywhere else.

princeton ppl beat others at going through the ranks at microsoft and google, compared to harvard and mit i heard today...
