<p>There's no difference. People should stop applying to the engineering department just because they think it's easier to get in. I mean, okay, say you do get accepted to the engineering department, that doesn't mean you wouldn't have gotten accepted into the regular college. Also, would you really want to base the rest of your life/career on the fact that you wanted to get into Princeton?</p>
<p>well elcoco, its nonbinding when you apply to the engineering department. You're still going through the same process and when you get there, you will be choosing your own classes and that process is not at all based on your common app. So you might as well apply to engineering if you can write a great essay about it - then if you want to do humanities, fine.</p>
