Princeton Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Hey all!
Another hopeful transfer student here. Looking to go to school this Fall after getting out of the military, so we’ll see how this goes. Thought I had a good GPA (~3.96 with 80 credits) but so many of you have perfect GPA’s and test scores, congrats and good luck everyone!

Hi everyone, I also applied to transfer to Princeton. Any other community college applicants? Seems like there’s a great amount of competitive four-year institution students applying… scary to see this competition, but exciting, nonetheless!

@kb199977 I’m also a community college applicant. I know what you mean!

@ireadtoomuch that’s lit! and yeah, so many great applicants. I hope I can stand a chance lol. What’s your major?

@kb199977 Psychology. What major/what year for you?

@ireadtoomuch Nice! I’m political science and not exactly sure what you mean by what year but this is my second year in CC. Im hoping to transfer to Princeton as a sophomore, though. What about you? Also, are you straight out of high school or are you a nontraditional student?

@kb199977

Also a Community College Student as well. Hoping to transfer as a Sophomore as well. Good luck!

@kb199977 I’m hoping to transfer to Princeton as a junior. Right after I graduated high school I entered community college the following fall term, so I believe that makes me a traditional student?

Hey guys! I applied to Brown’s RUE program, Columbia GS, Cornell, Loyola Chicago, Princeton, Stanford, University of Michigan (UM), University of Pennsylvania (NOT the LPS program), Williams College, and Yale’s Eli Whitney Program.

Note: I received a rejection letter from Williams College today.

I am 41 years old, married to a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, and have no kids. I work as a VA Caregiver and hold a professional job. I dropped out of high school and got a GED. I attempted to go to college on 4 separate occasions and I did very poorly or dropped out each time. I started back to school 2 years ago and finished my associates degree in December 2018 at a local community college. I graduated magna cum laude (3.868 out of 4.00 GPA) on December 16, 2018.

Also, I did not take the SAT or ACT. As was advised by admission reps at Princeton and Stanford, I wrote a formal request to all schools that required standardized test scores requesting my application be considered in its incomplete status. Columbia did required an online entrance exam, so I did take that.

Here is a summary of my time at my community college. Sorry this is so long, but I have seen other threads where everything is listed, so I thought I would just put this all out there.

Graduated magna cum laude (3.868 out of 4.00 GPA) on December 16, 2018.

Hey guys! How do y’all feel about your personality questions? I may have gone a little too simple with my answers. I have been reading a lot of application results where people felt like those questions in particular made a difference in being accepted.

I would say that Princeton’s questions were the most natural for me to answer. I am happy with how mine turned out.

I think I might have been over thinking them some, maybe trying too hard, but I do like how my answers read, after the fact.

@JellyPeeps I chose to state my answer and then expand on it in detail why I chose that answer (I’m not sure if this is the typical way to format it). I just reread my answers after not looking at it for over a month and I still feel good about what I wrote; I feel like my personality comes across in my answers. I definitely spent a lot of time overthinking the personality questions.

@ireadtoomuch Yeah, I spent time overthinking and googling things, then finally, I became so frustrated, I just answered how I thought best. Those questions were actually the hardest for me. I drew a blank on everything, LOL. But my answers read well after the fact I think.

I really enjoyed those questions. I kept my responses brief at a sentence or two each so I could leave the core of my answers to their interpretation, I hope it was a good strategy. The answers themselves were easy, but I definitely overthought how to compose them.

In the end, I just answered how I felt and feel good about them, but I have read so much feedback about how the questions are really one of the more important components. So if you feel really good about yours, that is a step in the right direction!

Princeton is a dream.

The suspense is killing me.

@JellyPeeps Any idea when Princeton’s releasing? You mentioned on the Stanford thread that you had spoken to admissions–just wondering if you talked to Princeton’s reps too.

I would expect decisions to come out around May 8th like last year- though you all should be receiving an e-mail with the exact date very soon!

We’re all looking forward to meeting the new transfers!! Believe me when I say that I will try my hardest to persuade you to come here and not to the other amazing schools you’ll get into :?

@heroicacuau I spoke to the Princeton admissions people also, but they did not give me any indication on decision dates. I hope decisions come out on May 8th, because that is my birthday. Also, and I don’t want to brag, but… I got a fortune cookie that promised good luck before my birthday. So, I feel pretty good about it.
