Princeton FAQ: Get your questions answered by current students

Does princeton do likely letters?

Even if they did it would be a terrible mistake to be expecting one.

What percentage of last year’s freshman class had interviews (those accepted)?

How favorably does Princeton view the IB Diploma? Is it an influencing factor at all in admissions?

Do the eating clubs at Princeton exclude many people or are too cliquey?

also hw does a typical phone interview go?

collegesgirl: I don’t know how many, but it really isn’t a big factor in the decision so you shouldn’t stress about it. The content of the interviewer varies depending on who you get. Some like to ask you about your hobbies and extracurriculars, some ask you ‘why princeton,’ and some people make it mostly informational so that you can ask any questions.

fivesixnineten- Rigor of workload is a factor, so I would assume it looks good.

DMOC- There are 10 different eating clubs. Only 5 of them are bicker clubs, and the other 5 you can just sign up for. Each of the clubs has a different reputation, and the sign-in clubs are especially open and welcoming. These are also the clubs that let students in on just PUID (princeton university ID) for parties on the weekends. The bicker clubs often have passes, but if you meet a member (and most underclassmen do, through classes, or clubs, sports teams, etc) it’s easy to get passes. There are a lot of different threads about this on the forum already, so I suggest you read those if you would like to get a better idea of the eating club scene. There are also other options if you decide not to join an eating club at the end of your sophomore year. You can go independent (cook for yourself), join a co-op (cooperative cooking, dinner provided every day, cook once a week), or stay in the residential colleges and have a meal plan through the university.

Do you know anything about the astro courses that would be good to know?

Also, how did you react when you got accepted to Pton? lol

I know nothing about the astro courses, but if you go to registrar.princeton.edu, you can look at the classes offered last and this semester. You can also probably google the department to get any information from them.

I stared at my computer screen for a couple minutes and then started screaming my head off. Then I called my mom.

What do you think did it for you in getting accepted to Princeton?-of course, you’ll never know for sure, but what were your strengths?

Extracurriculars & essays

And luck. Lots of luck.

I’m from Princeton and I really want to go there
Does anyone know if the application usually stays pretty much the same from year to year, or do they change the essay questions and short answers from year to year?

I ask this question because I’m a sophomore but want to get a head start on the application.

Dude, don’t bother trying to get a head start on the application. Chill out.

Can you tell the AO’s to let me in? :D

No, I can’t.

chicken “bak bak”

I’m an international freshman applicant. Will my financial aid application affect my admission decision in the end?

Thanks!

Are any summer programs available for rising HS seniors?

Stheno, the admissions committee does not know whether or not a student is applying for aid when they make their decision. Applying for financial aid does not lower your chances.
