<p>It is not only unnecessary, it is extremely inappropriate. It may appear to be a form of bribery(especially if it's over $100). A nice hand written thank-you note after the interview would be very nice.</p>
<p>Could you imagine if everyone brought a present? Interviewers would be filled with cookies, wines, chocolate... It would be open season on eBay.</p>
