princeton interview

I'm not sure, but when I saw something clearly not addressed to me, the applicant, I felt really guilty.

guilty schmilty. it's public material. if they really really felt that we shouldn't see it, they would ask for some sort of passcode. I mean really, in the end, it's nothing we didn't already know, if you've read some books on the college admissions process. at least we know they're not going to be looking for anything profound.

looks just like a recommendation to me, the form that is. I'm still waiting for my interview! geez

zante-they don't want you I guess. :(.

Hey-you know what's not cool? this athletic recruit I know to princeton gets in some special athlete pool and finds out in 2 weeks if she's in or not and it wasn't ED, it was ...I don't know, "athletic rolling."

Seriously? For Princeton?
I blame my parents for not forcing me to do a sport and stick to it when I was younger!

Hey Encomium, that's not nice! I was being so optimistic! Did you get your interview?? You know what, they're so sure they want me they don't need to interview
(wow I have a feeling I'm going to regret saying that...)

zante-I was just kidding!!!!! hahaha. I didn't even get a confirmation yet. Don't worry you'll get one-you're insanely qualified anyway

60 seconds
60 seconds
dormez-vous (is that right? i take spanish not french...I'm sure it's not cause it looks like spanish with a z)

Yeah, one of my best friends is being recruited. I'm really happy for him. I hope he makes it. :)

My only worry is that when they take him, they might automatically reject/defer me because they'll say, "Well, we already took one student from school X, so we can't take two...etc."

this girl i know says that princeton, if they take an athletic recruit of lower rank/standing, they will try to take kids from that school of higher academic performance to be fair. (honestly, I don't know how she knows this and I don't even really believe her)

Bokonon - sorry if I offended you by posting those links, but they are public material and can be viewed by anyone. CC is supposed to be about helping students with this whole application process, and I don't see how it's wrong to post "Interview Guidelines". If you actually read them, you'd see there's nothing special there...you could have gleaned all that information just from reading up about interviews on any website! I'm probably not getting an interview, but I just wanted to share the info. Anyway, to reiterate what I said: good luck to ALL.

EncomiumII-- That's great to know. However, my friend is also very academically competent as well. (e.g.1500+ SAT score) I have a higher GPA etc, but he out-tests me on the SAT I. Oh, well.

My understanding is that Mr. Hargadon has retired, so what you are looking at may not be the current version of whatever Princeton interviewers use. However, it may be that they are using the same thing and just using someone else's signature beneath the cover letter.

Good luck to all of you!

Dizzymom

daymn i wish i was an athlete... well I am.... but not a college one

I know, I wish I was an athlete too. The boy across the street from me got in P-ton ED for crew, definitely am jealous there.

I haven't heard about my interview yet either.

And on the subject of what to wear - here's my outfit (haha yes, already planned, I know - pathetic):
-navy blazer or navy argyle cardigan
-white polo
-pleated khaki knee-length skirt with cream pinstripes and a cream ribbon bow belt
-cream cable knee socks
-either my tassel loafers or khaki coach shoes

Is it sad I plan my outfits out in advance instead of doing my AP Lit? oh well

your outfit sounds very preppy-princeton, lol
i love it

i'm not preppy at all

I gaurantee you i'm the exact opposite of ilcapo

haha where i live we joke about old-school preppiness being a disease, by the time we graduate it infects us all :)

have you guys thought about what you want to wear yet? (in your case encomium, something that designates you as a NON-PREPPY and thus will add diversity to the j.crewed up campus, ha)

Something I wear to work probably. Blouse and skirt type thing... I'm interning at a law firm so probably nothing too special or preppy.

you're interning at a law firm? that's really cool! what sort of things do you do there? how did you get your internship, was it through family connections or your school or did you just apply for it on your own?

That's awesome. I'm hoping to intern at a law firm during one of the summers between school years in college. It'd be way cool if it were in the Northeast, the law capital of America.

And I don't think you've seen old-school preppiness 'til you've seen my school sometimes (especially the teachers). Yes, the sweater was tied in a not around the neck on top of a plaid polo shirt. Welcome to the Stepford Kingdom of the US of A.

Through a program I'm part of. They found me an internship for the summer and I took a break from it and now I'm going back after school.

I don't do many real law things, but I love the corporate world. (Sliding IDs, everything with the firm's logo, my cubicle...sigh) I help organize projects and stuff that facilitate what the lawyers do, so like, a program for conference planning. Lots of powerpoint and excel work =)
