Princeton or Yale

Hello I am high school student grade 12 from Korea
I have one B and all As. My SAT is over 2100 (took again in October)
My extracurricular activities are GOOD (Dance club leader, International Journal, International Forums on Environments, Internship at a good university, and many more.)
Also, I get recommendation letter from Yale professor.
I want to go to Yale. But my school counselor said Princeton is more easy for me.
Is Princeton better than Yale?

No it’s not easier. No not at all. It’s the same, really.

“But my school counselor said Princeton is more easy for me” Your counselor is mistaken. they are equally difficult to get into. Why don’ t you apply to both?

Lol my counselors get 67% of my school into the Ivy League, their not mistaken whatsoever. Apply to both. See what happens. One will not be easier for you than the other. I assure you of this. Both are extremely difficult for everyone.

Yale dude, is that even a question

They are both equally difficult. You seem to love Yale so apply to Yale.

As people have already recommended, why not apply to both? If you are hard-pressed to apply to only one though, then you should probably apply to Yale, since you seem to have an invested interest there. It would be both wrong and naive to apply to Princeton “because it is more easy,” as 1) you should apply to schools based on fit and 2) Princeton is not any easier to get into.

As a side note, I would also be aware that your SAT’s are a bit low for both Princeton and Yale (especially as an international student), but you did retake them, so hopefully they improved. In addition, when you submit your essays, you might want to consider hiring a proofreader, as English is obviously not your first language. Grammatical issues, like “more easy” and a lack of articles, will harm the quality of your essays.

Aren’t they Restrictive Early Actions? I thought I have to apply to only one of them.
But I guess I will apply to both. Or apply to Princeton Early (because it IS easier for my school. historically.) and apply to Yale and Harvard in Regular. I hope I get accepted to Yale someday. Thanks you.

H-Y-P all practice Restrictive EA, you’re correct. But it seems of the three, you’d want a Yale admit before the others. Then why aren’t you applying there EA and the other two as RD?

Since your odds are extremely long for any of these three (meaning 3 rejections), remove from your mind any “strategizing” and apply to the one that would most make you happy if you were admitted in December.

You should apply to both. The odds should be about the same, but if as you suggested for some reason your school sends more people to Princeton historically then I would recommend applying there early action. It’s certainly not out of the question that Princeton looks at some specific thing related to your school differently than Yale.

Do Princeton early, then Yale regular.

High school cronyism/feeding is totally a thing. Different high schools have different established relationships with certain Ivies. It just happens. It’s nowhere near as prominent as it was like 50 years ago but it’s still the case today.

Better to get into Princeton early than be rejected by both Y and P regular because you weren’t one of the school’s forefront P applicants. Listen to your counselor. They know more about this political BS than they let on.

^But if Yale is absolutely OPs #1 choice, I would just apply early there. Also being out of the country, how can you be so sure since you haven’t visited the campus. I am not sure if Princeton is OP’s #2 choice or he/she is just thinking of it, due to the counselor. How many other students in your class are applying to yale or princeton…yes, that may be taken into factor but why waste EA on a #2 or below choice.

Makes no difference if he applies early or regular to Yale since it’s REA, not ED.
