Princeton Questions

I visited Princeton for my second time this weekend (needless to say, I am quite interested). I am trying to choose between it and Dartmouth. I'd appreciate it if you fine souls would partake in some Q&A with me. None of these questions are meant to be at all offensive or anything like that, though I may pose them bluntly. They're weighted more towards social life since I got a better feel for the other things during my visit...

1) I understand that the Eating Clubs are pretty big social hubs on weekends, but is there any sort of social goings-on weekdays?

2) Just out of curiosity, what are the Eating Clubs that "bicker," and do they each have a personality of some sort?

3) Is there a social life that isn't part of the eating club system? For instance, dorm parties of the like?

4) What percentage of kids are very social versus those who will be studying in their rooms on Saturday nights?

5) I noticed the football stadium is huge. Does it reach anywhere near capacity on gamedays? And is there any sort of tailgating or the like (obviously I'm not expecting anything huge).

6) What score on SAT II Spanish would be needed to demonstrate "proficiency"

7) As a more general question, if you have any knowledge, how would you rank the Ivies socially?

Thanks a lot. If you answered what you could that would be great.

1) A lot of the eating clubs are open on the weekdays as well. Usually its a small subset. When I was there, ivy was open on tuesdays and cap was open on wednesdays. Then all of the clubs are open on thursdays, charter is open on fridays, and all of the clubs are open on saturdays. Generally there would be at least one club open every night of the week, except maybe sundays.

2) THe bicker clubs are ivy, cap, cottage, ti and tower. Each have a personality, although there is some overlap.

3) most of the partying social life is at the clubs. There are frats and sororities that will have parties (mostly frats), but generally the parties are earlier and then everyone goes out to the street. There are also parties thrown by the residential colleges. THey tend not to have alcohol, but they do have food and free tshirts. Some of them, like casino night, tend to be popular.

4) I would say most people are social, and the people that arent you wouldn’t see anyway.

5) There is tailgaiting. People care more about the tailgate than about the actual game generally. When princeton football is “good” lots of people show up at the game. My junior year we won the ivys, and the princeton-harvard game was nearly full. We also got a bonfire! Other years very few people were there.
