(excerpts)
"For the past 10 years The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education has been collecting standard racial data bearing on the relative success of the nation's leading universities in bringing black students and faculty to their campuses."

" JBHE has ranked America's leading universities according to their relative success in attracting, enrolling, and graduating African-American students as well as their progress in bringing black professors to their campuses. Universities are ranked according to a blending of 13 widely accepted quantitative measures of institutional racial integration."

Why are blacks always considered the only minority. What about other minorities, do we get an added leverage in the admissions process- say a Greek Cypriot. I mean come on, how many of these are applying.

For admissions purposes in the US, the under-represented minorities are blacks, hispanics, and American Indians (not Indian Americans). That's it.

Being Greek Cypriot is nice and exotic, but Greek Cypriots are also white Europeans. And most schools have plenty of white Europeans.

)excerpt)
"A record 55 percent of the 1,229-member class is on financial aid, Dean of the College Nancy Malkiel reported at the Sept. 19 faculty meeting. That is the highest percentage at any Ivy League institution based on preliminary reports. Last year's freshman class included 52 percent of students on financial aid.

Of the 675 freshmen on financial aid, 196 come from low-income households (defined as below $50,900 per year), up from 161 last year."

What the ****, minority hate. Thats a bunch of crap. I'm simply asking if others get minority status as well. JEEZ. Can't say anything around activits crying racism right and left. That period is over, get over yourself.

I agree with nallytwn. The "diversity" rankings should be called "black friendly" rankings. There are Asians and Hispanics...etc too. Does Princeton score well in those compared to others?

I don't know precisely how Princeton compares to other schools, but blacks, Asians, and hispanics represent a combined 35 % of the class of 2009, which I believe is similar to the percentage at other Ivies.
