Probably a slight boost for the sibling factor
@anotherdude Son had his SCEA interview in November. Had a really great conversation about his goals, what he wanted to do at Princeton and the interviewer spent a fair amount of time talking about the school and his time there. Hardest question was “why Princeton?” and that is such a personal question, I cannot help you there.
These interviews can really only help you, if you aren’t rude and have some good questions to ask (e.g. Stuff you cannot find just by going to their website). Best way to impress is be yourself, the natural you will shine through and you’ll be much more relaxed than if trying too hard to be someone else.
Bring a copy of your shortened resume 1 or 2 pages max to hand to the interviewer, but my son’s interviewer was already already familiar with my sons background (which seems unusual).
When should I stop expecting the chance for an interview? It’s getting pretty late. I live in a pretty major city, I thought I’d get at least one. 3 ivies 0 interview requests. Huh
Thank you for the tips @psywar!
@tutututututuru It’s still pretty early. I’m certain that Princeton tries to interview all of their applicants, so you’ll eventually get one
@tutututututuru In the early round there were students who did not receive an interview until a day or two before reports were due. Furthermore some students did not receive interviews at all. This is entirely due to the number of available alumni in your area and the number of applicants. If you don’t receive one, it has nothing to do with your application and will not be held against you.
As long as they see that I didn’t turn down an interview, I’m not too cut up about it.
My alumni interview is tomorrow.
Mine too!
Good luck to you both, just be yourself and have fun. Being authentic (and relaxed) will allow your qualities to shine.
thank you!
@psywar Thank-U! It went great. As a bonus the alumni is an MD and I am an aspiring physician thus many shared interests.
Ugh my interview wasn’t too great… My interviewer didn’t really have a personality so it was really awkward. I did my best and he was really nice so I’m sure he will still write a good rec letter for me, but it wasn’t that enjoyable of an experience.
Any collective estimations for decision dates?? Good luck to all!
@nsliyromanov Ivy day is March 31!
I still haven’t gotten my email invitation for an interview haha. Oh well.
Hopefully it comes late, if not, then whatever.
Same @Kyuutoryuu
Interview on Friday :0
Does Princeton send likely letters? If so, when?
To my knowledge they only go to recruited athletes. Most of these are done in the early round ahead of NCAA signing days.
I just had my alumni interview today! I live in Madrid, but I’m Greek, so definitely count as an international applicant The guy was really nice, he was actually the parent of 2 kids at my school but I had never met him, nor did he mention that fact so I didn’t bring it up. I think it went well, it was much more informal than I expected, but I think I got a lot across. Where is everyone else applying from? Have you been interviewed yet? If so, how did it go? Cheers!
