I have been keep hearing that Princeton recalculates your GPA so that it doesn't take account the freshmen year... is this true???

If it is true...my weighted gpa would go up from 4.56 to 4.86...lol and my unweighted gpa would be 4.0....ahhh that would be my dream come true.

weighted gpa is very hard to calculate from school to school because they're all so very different...princeton only does unweighted, but they DO see your course rigor and compare it in context to the rest of your class

An adcom said they use unweighted. I guess they evaluate performance and rigor separately. And, as mr_chipset adn Def890 said, this makes sense because it's the only way to judge performance without the inherit bias of each school - at my school, some courses are difficult enough to be called AP's, but they aren't actual AP subjects; some other schools have more than there levels, like accelerated, honors, AP, IB, and college.

I think they look at your school that you attend and check its academic record and they look at the actual classes you take. I dont think they just go in and look at a UW recalculated GPA and take you know the top ten %10 GPA's.
Its no represnetation of you as a student. I mean taking one course one place could be so different than somewhere else so they much more than there UW recalculated GPA into consideration.

I am a freshman now and i got a 3.5 UW and 4.0 W on the first grading report. How would that look to Princeton, and i took an AP as a freshman. Oh yeah, i am in IB at the 7th ranked IB program in North America

You're a freshman; you shouldn't be on here. You're just gonna drive yourself insane for the next 4 years, which is NOT healthy at all. Stop worrying about what colleges will think and live your life.

Oh i have a life man. I am watching football right now, and downloading music, so i am on here since im bored and waiting for my music. Ok? thank you

No one said you didn't have a life. I don't doubt it. I'm just saying it's not healthy to be driven crazy like this board will do to you. It wasn't an insult; I was trying to help you. Sorry.

Oh thats great, becasue i can bring all my grades up to A's and maybe a B or two.

and is it true that they leave out all electives and non academic classes and omit your freshman year other than it being accumulated with your UW GPA?
