Some advice for you vivaldi....DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING WORDS WITH FINANCIAL AID!: Negotiate...Bargain...Competitive...Barter...Recruted...etc.

They are like red-letter words...at Dartmouth (I spent some serious quality time with thier fin aid people) they said that those words, and other words of that ilk, will totally shut the discussion down.

The word is RE-EVALUATE. There is no other word to use....you wan't p-ton and yale to re-evaluate your aid...and then ask them to take into consideration other awards. DO NOT....DO NOT say "I'd like to negotiate my aid package"...They'll show you the door.

my track record with ivies has been horrible too, soanyhows...3 waitlists and a reject (I even got waitlisted from Cornell dammit)...I've probably posted this on too many boards already, but I'm really bummed out. And I'm 99% sure I got waitlisted/rejected from Pton because I live an hour north of the city and got nothing (except for a bunch of waitlist letters).

To top this all off, financial aid is emerging as a problem at the colleges I did get into. This week has been a nightmare for me...it appears that my worst-case scenario (going to TCNJ where I get a full-ride) is coming true after all...

How did this happen? Where did I go wrong? (rhetorical question...don't try to answer it, lol)

Again, good luck to everyone and congrats to those who got in already. Hey, if I end up going to TCNJ, I'll be your neighbor... (hmm...perhaps it isn't princeton that I love so much...just NJ)

Yes, yes, I know. Of course, if I don't get an acceptance from Princeton, it won't matter. :p If I do, though, I'll be tactful - and I'll try to get some help from my regional rep (he likes me, haha).
