@lomoso Also, congratulations on getting in! Good luck at the school!
keep in mind that the rating is just the first reader’s preliminary impression of you. there are people who were admitted after they were rated “only if room”, just as there were people who were denied who were rated “strong”. committee is definitely far more important.
I was deferred SCEA.
@azwu331 I think my stats are somewhere in the RD 2019 thread. not too keen on sharing them here as I don’t really want to stir the pot. knowing my stats certainly won’t (and shouldn’t) give you a better idea of your own chances.
Dec 14th, please hurry up! I just want to know if I got in…and I got that email about missing financial aid stuff too.
@lomoso thank you so much for your insight! I was wondering, were there any notes about your interview (if you had one) in your admission materials?
@server456 I didn’t even expect to see my interview report because I thought it meant nothing in the process. But I was surprised to find that it was in there and actually referenced a bit by the readers. just like readers, interviewers rate you on a scale as well: Average->Good->Very Good->Excellent->Outstanding->Top few ever encountered. (lol @ average being the lowest…only at princeton haha). Thought mine was pretty shit, but it was rated outstanding.
The interviewer also makes some brief comments about what you talked about, how you presented yourself, etc, and what they think you will bring to Princeton.
@azwu331 @meaa7130 I got the email as well! I really hope there is a correlation, but who knows. I think I’m going to go stalk old threads
@meaa7130 I’m so glad to hear that your interview went wel!!! That is fantastic. You seem like an amazing applicant, and I really hope I get to meet you in New Jersey one day!
OMG I’m freaked out…When do they ask about financial status for international applicants?I definitely think it’s a good sign since they wouldn’t bother asking if you’re already out. Hope those of you who received the email will get in eventually!
Just a question: have any of your counselors been contacted by Princeton yet? I know that in last year’s thread, many of the accepted students received messages from their counselors. It was around this time too.
@collegebound1915 You seem like a wonderful person! It would really great if we were both accepted. But yeah, looking at old threads is a rather addictive habit (and a great way to freak myself out when I see 2400/36 kids with numerous ECs get deferred)…
Hopefully we all get good news in December! Best wishes!
I doubt the email means anything. The Financial Aid folks are just getting their documents gathered. If they waited until they had a shortlist, there would be no time for parents to fulfill the request.
So last year at around this time (Dec 3rd for Class of '19), this was one of the posts. I can only assume it would be similar this year.
“btw y’all, my old boss told me that they’re at around 2000 applications right now, they cut out a fat chunk of the applicants already to get deferred this year. They expect to drop down to 1000 in a week. Cross your fingers and hope for the best!”

@azwu331 Thank you so much!! And I’m glad I am not the only one who is addicted to reading those threads, although it usually sends me into complete panic. I keep swearing to stay off them, but it never happens…I always like to know every detail about whatever I’m interested in!
Anyway, after searching some past years threads, it doesn’t look like the financial aid email has any significance. A call to your guidance counselor however does seem to be a good sign (although many peoples counselers were not called and they were still accepted, most of the people who were called for accepted)! Hope this helps
@collegebound1915 Thanks so much!! I hope I can meet you in NJ someday too!
Also, did you guys send in your first quarter grades? I didn’t and I’m not sure if I should have, but now I don’t know if it’s too late.
Haha I came on here all excited to post about my financial aid email. Looks like we’ll all just have to sit tight and wait (urgh!!) for Dec. 14 to find out for sure.
@meaa7130 My counselor sent my first quarter grades yesterday. If your first quarter grades are good, you should ask your counselor to send them! They can only help your chances. Plus, it’s not too late yet.
Hey guys, decided to pop back in the convo. I asked my counselor about quarter grades, and she said that since our school only reports semester grades on the transcript, they wouldn’t expect to see a first quarter grade at all. That being said, if your school’s report cards/transcripts show quarter grades, do ask your counselor!
Also, I got excited about the financial aid email thing too haha, which is why I came on here to see what everyone was saying. Guess we just have to wait!
@lomoso thanks for the detailed response! It’s weird/STRESSFUL AF imagining that readers (possibly even right now) are judging my whole life/interests and putting a rank on that.
I’m so thankful for you guys looking through the past Princeton threads and getting some key information, and I hope ya’ll get the results you want.
@lomoso I am curious to know why you decided to look at your file?
How many quest bridge students does Princeton usually get in scea?
When do questbridge decisions come out?
