Princeton SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@collegebound1915 exactly. I actually didn’t apply for aid(even though probably should have) so I financially could have taken them, but I didn’t do great on them. I’m freaking out that because I didn’t send them I won’t be accepted.

@FarscapeFan Ah, I understand. I’m very happy for you and your son and very glad that he has such supportive parents! I would say my parents have gotten better with the piloting-- the helicopter seems to have landed safely haha I have much more freedom now than I have, but I do appreciate the occasional “get your butt in your chair and go study” comment.

@azwu331 I know! I love talking with all of you guys, and it’ll make me really sad after Wednesday when I won’t speak with any of you guys again :frowning: We have to make the best of it until then though!

Speaking of 60 degrees, here in PA it’s mid December and still 60 degrees which isn’t normal… Two years ago it snowed on Halloween, but at this rate we won’t even get a light layer for christmas.
I read that you guys were mostly far but the biggest reason pton is my top choice is the distance - out of state but only a 47 min drive! Train available too. How lovely! Even closer than upenn (in state)
I (like everyone) died when I got the email telling us that decisions were coming out this Wed… ahh! The pressure’s on… Last year my school had 0 ivy admits but this year we’re already up to 2 (one brown one upenn (possibly 4, I haven’t been in contact with the rest), maybe it’ll be a good year? WED!! The more I think about it the less significant my ECs become… Good luck to everyone! I’ll always been stalking this thread and only contributed a little but now I’ll über stalk it. Please pton take me!!

@Mel1997 I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one freaking out about it! I was just talking to my parents though, and they told me that I was being unnecessarily obsessive about the subject tests. Princeton does not require them, and despite what people on CC will argue (yes, I know they are recommended but still) they clearly are not required. Also, since we both submitted the ACT, I think that is even better. The other schools I am applying too require either the ACT with writing, OR the SAT with subject tests. I have a feeling Princeton will look at it in the same way. Obviously, I still think subject tests help your application, but I have to believe it’s not make it or break it. I really believe that we are fine (hopefully!!)

@collegebound1915 I hope so!! Unfortunately I only got a 33, which I thought was happy with, but I now realize it is low for pton

I hope we all just some how miraculously get in

I’m beginning to wonder how holistically Princeton actually looks at applications…

@Mel1997 I feel ya… I didn’t send my subject tests either but I sent SAT and ACT. Both of which were kinda bad mediocre for Princeton

@Trackislife2016 are you committed for track at Princeton though?

Also…hello everyone…just joining in:) this is kinda a stupid question, but does Princeton take any “normal” people that are very well above average, but aren’t spectacular…like does EVERYONE at Princeton have unbelievable stats??? I feel like it there wouldn’t be enough diversity then. I went to a top boarding school on par with Exeter and Andover (12% acceptance rate…2100 average SAT) (up to today, I still don’t know how I got in) and though ALOT of people there are spectacular in everyday imaginable, there are some “regular” ppl like me who are smart but not 2350 and perfect GPA smart…anyway, my point is even if your stats aren’t perfect, there’s still a chance. You could be that lucky person who thinks they aren’t good enough, but manages to make it. Good luck everyone

I’m not telling anyone the decision date except a few close friends who will be at track with me when they’re released… I’m not even telling my parents hahaha. Although I think that my dad will find out because he gets the alumni newsletters and I’m sure they’ll mention it in there… I just don’t want everyone to get hyped about it!

I love how the Daily Princetonian releases SCEA stats the day our decisions come out (sarcasm intended). I’m not sure if I will look at the general stats first or look at my decision first.

What are “excellent” stats? Are those like the 2350+ for SAT and 750+ for SAT 2s ? What exactly does it mean?

@52balletvieta do they release them before or after 3pm?

I’m kind of mad they’re releasing at 3… You’d think 5 would be more generous, considering that most of us would be home by then!

@emtfxc I totally agree with you… I do not want to open the portal when I am on the school bus next to all my friends!! :frowning: sigh … unless it’s good news, I’d rather find out about it alone at home lol

@emtfxc maybe they are releasing them at 3 because not everyone will be home and there won’t be a huge influx of ppl trying to log on which can crash it?

@greeny8 true! Ugh it’s like a lose-lose situation here. I’ll most likely have my phone in my blazer pocket all day and sneak peaks in the bathroom- I’m not normally one for breaking school policies, but its for good reason!!

@meaa7130 They don’t have a specific time when they release the general stats, or at least not that I know of. I have to keep telling myself that God has a plan for me no matter what. The stress is real though.

Nooo…I WISH  @Mel1997
