Princeton SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@cheesewaffles Did you apply SCEA or RD? If you applied SCEA then you should definitely email them back asap because if you were accepted then they won’t be able to let you know your financial aid package until you send them your info.

@azwu331 couldn’t have said it better. ~:>

@cheesewaffles as @dolph1n said you should DEFINITELY email them and let them know what’s going on… as well as helping them to set up your financial aid, it’s only polite to respond.

@dolph1n hi thanks so much for the advice! yep I did SCEA! I actually asked my parents for the info some time back but I think they forgot about it and they’re only looking into it now. I’m not so concerned about getting the financial aid package asap as much as whether it would affect decisions. I know that they say that the finaid office is separate from admissions but I can’t help getting the feeling that they might be annoyed at me delaying. On the other hand I just want to wait till decisions day, to save the bother in the likely event of a rejection X)

@azwu331 As always, your eloquence is stunning.

It’s hard to transfer so much personality and passion into just so few words, but thats the challenge of it. To see if you can manage to express yourself.

I’m going to miss my family, but I think I need some space from them too. I’ve grown up raising my younger siblings and I kind of want to see what life is without that kind of daily responsibility.

Wednesday feels so close yet so far. I want it to come now but also never.

@cinnamonwings Oh I’m sorry! I thought you said you already received a confirmation email… I emailed them a long time ago like Dec. 3rd and they emailed me back that said “Yes- your file is complete” yesterday.

Anybody else who emailed FA and received that email???

@cheesewaffles I like to believe that the fa and ua offices are separate. So, I think that what the ua office decides won’t change just because you didn’t submit your fa app because many people don’t even apply for financial aid. But, if you do get in then your package will be delayed & they might not even offer you as much $ in aid (but that would surprise me).
I also can’t wait till decisions day and this week is gonna be super stressful for all of us.

oh crap, I just emailed them and halfway through I accidentally sent them my unfinished draft. I hope they don’t think I’m a bumbling idiot

@dolph1n oh that’s a relief! yep I almost died after hearing the date was 16th (17th where I am)! I was so prepared for Monday haha. I’ve been lurking here for the last couple of weeks and finally gave in to joining CC. Seems like a really amazing bunch of people here and I really wish all you guys the best!!

@lolacell I emailed the FA office on friday asking if they got the tax forms and got an email ten minutes later saying that same thing :-- ))))

@beemane I can’t really speak from direct experience. I am a first gen university student (my parents didn’t go to college) and I’m the eldest kid in my immediate (meaning parents + siblings) family, so the first to apply to college. However, I’ve heard that legacy status (meaning either or both parents graduated from the school) would be an advantage, but definitely not enough to make you a shoe-in “pass” (I know a girl whose dad graduated from Yale who got flat out rejected from Yale and two other ppl who were Yale double-legacies & got denied). I have no idea for sibling legacies, but I remember that on the Princeton Common App they asked you to list ppl from your family who graduated from/worked at Princeton, so I assume that that must at least mean something, however small that may be…

I think that, ultimately, you should put the bulk of your energy into the parts of the app that you control (grades, essays, etc) bc although legacy helps, it isn’t a panacea in any shape or form.

A good friend of mine just got into Carnegie Mellon!! So happy for her, but this makes me more anxious and impatient haha

Am I the only one in the thread who finds that the only way to sleep on these last few nights is to bump Drake and Future’s mixtape “What a Time to Be Alive”?

Anyone want to just talk about Princeton and stuff? Not a lot of EA Princeton applicants near me so I can’t anguish over decisions being so late with anyone hahahaha…haha…

@Mrmerchant Princeton is so beautiful… Shall I conduct a poll?

LIKE if you’ve toured Princeton

HELPFUL if you’ve lived on campus for whatever reason

I know I’ve only posted a couple times on this thread, but I’m just so honored to even be considered for such an amazing opportunity. Out of all the Ivy League applicant threads on here, I feel like this one is the most tight-knit – the one with the closest bonds. The idea of possibly meeting some of you at Princeton next year is just so crazy to think about… On a side note, I’ve gone numb as to feeling the excitement of the impending D-Day. I’ve dreamed about this for so long, and now I’ll know if it all comes true in just a couple of days. I think that’s why I’ve gone numb – I feel like I’m in one of my reoccurring dreams.

@52balletvieta Did you submit an arts supplement as well!!! If you did, I finally found someone else that did!

@MikeJuhuoski I know exactly how you feel. It’s this sort of non stop anxiety of wondering and hoping and questioning. I just want it to be Wednesday already so I can get this over with and know whether or not Im in!

@MikeJuhuoski We got your back bro

@52balletvieta Princeton was the first college campus I visited! I wasn’t even a year old when I first visited and I revisited in September and woww I’ve been trying not to be too think too much about it bc I’m afraid if I’m rejected or deferred I’ll get depressed but I really hope I get to live on campus

@MikeJuhuoski I wish i were numb! Then I won’t care if I’m not admitted this upcoming week.
