@Cantiger and T26E4 - Thanks for the advice and the video! I am enjoying my senior year…mostly. November has just been a stressful month for many different reasons.

On another note, where are you guys applying RD? My second choice is University of Pennsylvania, but it’s not like UPenn has a high acceptance rate either… Other than UPenn and Princeton, the majority of the schools I am applying to aren’t as insanely difficult to get into. I’m probably going to work on my RD essays a lot today. Looking at the great programs at other schools helps me take my mind off of Princeton. I also want all of these apps to be complete before I hear from Princeton so I do not have to be writing essays on Christmas Eve.

@KeDIX
I’m applying to UPenn as well, but that is my fourth choice. My second is Duke and my third is Hopkins. I might apply to Dartmouth as well because I do not have to do any additional essays for them. Also, I’m applying to Harvard because why not.

Anybody here from Long Island get an interview request yet?
Im in west Suffolk and haven’t heard anything

My list:

Reaches: Swarthmore College (second choice), Amherst, Williams, Dartmouth, UPenn, Brown, planning on also applying to Harvard & Yale since I already wrote essays that would fit the application and why not?

Matches: UVA (applied EA), William & Mary, Wake Forest University

Safety: JMU

Mine:

Reaches- Columbia, Duke
Matches- Carnegie Mellon, UNC chap, Johns Hopkins
Safeties- NC state, GA tech (sort of a safety)

Reaches: UChicago, Stanford, Harvard, Williams, Dartmouth

Matches: Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, WUSL, Johns Hopkins, Vassar

Safties: Vanderbilt (I’m a double legacy at a feeder), Trinity, Syracuse

Any guesses on what day they will post decisions? I hope it’s not later than the 18th…

@Pragya, Princeton has said they will post decisions in mid-December, so that means the 10th through the 20th. Last year, Princeton released decisions on the 18th and the year before they released decisions on the 15th.

Anyone interested in creating a pledge thread?

sure, make one

Reaches: Harvard, Duke, Penn, Princeton, Stanford
Matches: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UMich
Safeties: UCSB, UCSD

Am I the only one who can’t believe that it is almost December…

Three weeks to go.

Anybody knows if it is okay to send other applications for regular decisions now? I am also applying to Duke and Vandy RD and my applications are frankly ready to go, so do I have to wait until the decisions are back in mid-December, or it is okay to send them this week and get over it?

You can send other apps at any point.

@at2018: the reason people wait is to perhaps avoid sending extraneous apps. For instance, say PTon is your first choice. If accepted SCEA, you might decide to NOT apply to college A B and C. But you’ll still apply to college D. Save on fees, effort. etc.

Does anybody know when Princeton has announced the decision date in past years? I really hope it comes after exams.

I know last year SCEA had about an 18% acceptance rate (with recruited athletes, legacies, etc) but I wonder how the other 82% fell between deferrals and rejections. Also would love some stats on the percentage of deferrals that go on to be accepted RD. These numbers are so crazy!

Princeton is absolutely my first choice, but then you can’t put all eggs in the same bucket. I am mostly concerned with Vandy, because while RD deadline is Jan 1, if one would like to be considered for merit scholarships the application has to be in by Dec 9. Schools are very expensive, so it would be nice to get some extra help/money if possible.

Is this against SCEA rules? I was trying to look into this back in September and got mixed responses. It is still RD with no decision until spring time, but this priority deadline confuses me somewhat. I don’t want to go against the SCEA rules…
