Princeton SIG???

Hey,

I was wondering how prestigious was the Summer Institute for the Gifted offered at Princeton University? Does it look good on college applications? Is it hard to get into? About how many people apply/get in? Is it more prestigious than CTY Princeton?

I really do like both the CTY and the SIG programs but I was wondering if either of them are prestigious to universities...

Thanks

Ew, SIG.

That’s all I can say. (It’s not bad, but there are better options available.)

is CTY princeton a better option?

IMO, yes.

10char

What are some other good programs for business/finance/politics/law?? Programs that are considered “prestigious” and would look good on college applications.

Thanks

Obviously, the point of going to a summer program is not for it to sit prestigiously on your resume.

There are quite a few good programs in the fields you mentioned, but I can’t really remember their names (because I’m not interested in those topics), and I think most of the “prestigious” ones’ deadlines have already passed. This forum has a “search” feature, if you want to utilize it.

How about the Oxbridge Program at Cambridge? I will be majoring in Business and Finance and minoring in a field of law.

Is that program “prestigious”??? Again, I really like the program and am not applying because its prestigious… I just don’t want it to be a waste of time.

I think Oxbridge is just a company that creates these programs. I’ve heard mixed reviews, but personally, I’d go with a program directly sponsored by a university.

CTY is better than SIG from what ive heard and experienced

EW? Why? I went and it was interesting, stimulating and fun. I’d say CTY has stricter admission requirements such as certain SAT scores while SIG requires at least teacher recommendations if you are not identified in a talent search program. The courses exposed me to career pathways that I would not find anywhere else. If my parents had known about CTY they probably would’ve sent me there as it costs roughly 2K less than SIG.

I’ve got in to SIG Princeton for this Summer without any problems.
