What are the stereotypes that you/or you think people in general have about Princeton students?

Wealthy, preppy, WASPy.

Proud to uphold the Princeton stereotype.

you shouldn't be proud.

conservative?

is p-town seen as southern and aristocratic?

not southern...but definitely aristocratic...

Do people mix well, such as in terms of different ethnicity and social class? I think there is nothing wrong with a population being homogenious as long as people are accepting of those who do not fit the stereotype.... though that's kind of hard to do, I guess.

That's not something to be proud of, because the characteristics such as racially intolerant, snobby, etc also come with the Princeton stereotype.

Why do people automatically equate wealthy= bad. Does that imply that all poor people are innately virtuous?

I am also curious as to why many of the same people who condemn racism feel free to denigrate an entire cross-section of humanity as undesirable because their ancestors happen to be Northern European Protestants.

Now, the preppy thing I totally get -- people should most certainly be punished for their style of dress...wt%? Where is the tolerance and openmindedness this generation is supposed to espouse?

I'm not talking about a generation, I'm just talking about Princeton's rather undiverse, intolerant, old-boy's atmosphere that existed till the late twentieth century.

Wealthy, preppy people aren't bad. I'm just pointing out that the Princeton stereotype is not of wealthy, preppy boys, but of wealthy, preppy boys with an intolerant, elitist attitude.

Perhaps you're misinterpreting my comment.

Well, people can misinterpret any characteristic in a person....strangely, this is called "stereotyping"!

Dizzymom, thank you for defending. First off, that initial statement was tongue-in-cheek, and second - why shouldn't I be proud of who I am?

I will likely be the most liberal minded person on campus! President of College Democrats mwahahhah

mzhang, I wasn't responding to you; I know you and ilcapo are having fun. I just failed to take my anti-troll medication for the day...

College Democrats.... ptahhh. spits on Ilcapo, hands over hankerchief to wipe it up in apology I still love you though, even if you're... misinformed. ;)

Ilcapo, Princeton College Democrats has 1000 members.

Go College Dems! recoils from backlash

Lots of rich people at UCLA. And its a public school. How strange. I guess it must be the lifestyle!

College Independents, anyone? =D

haha...reminds me of a great satire essay/article I saw in UT's Texas Travesty about the Centrist Group on campus and how indecisive they are. It's hilarious. Hehe

Texas sucks. California rules. We are superior.

Can't wait to see Texans in Los Angeles County (11 million citizens and 65% Kerry) at the Rose Bowl. muhahahaha!

Whoaaa, buddy. Stop right there. Don't talk 'bout my Longhorns. You can diss Princeton because...well...it's just inane, but UT is sacred ground. Besides, Austin is predominantly liberal, so I doubt there'd be that much of a problem with being in LA...
