Princeton University Class of 2016 SCEA Thread

My daughter spoke with the Princeton coach today, who is supporting her SCEA application. Recruited athletes often hear admissions decisions earlier (so they can better juggle other opportunities). However, the coach says not even athletes will get early word this time. The coaches MIGHT hear a day or two before December 15, and then they can pass the word onto the athletes, but that’s the only advance notice he thinks they’ll get.

I just found out that early applicants for Princeton is significantly lower than at Harvard Yale or Stanford, (the only other SCEA schools); could this mean that we have better chances as early admits? Can’t wait to find out!!!

p.s.
Princeton 3547; undergrad enrollment 5029
Harvard 4245; undergrad enrollment 6655
Stanford 5880; undergrad enrollment 6602
Yale 4310 (a whopping 11% drop! haha) undergrad enrollment 5258

mcford - some athletes have heard last week.

bonbon - Princeton also has a smaller intake :frowning: btw undergrad enrollment is for all 4 yrs. Its 1300 per year.

Oh…but I thought number of early applicants is MUCH lower than in HYS even considering the lower intake…?

How and when will we find out?

Will it be via email or through the mail? I really hope its through email, considering I live in Papua New Guinea.

Would be so ecstatic if I got in. I wouldn’t apply anywhere else, and I’d probably re-read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Other Side of Paradise.’

Good luck everyone!

Just updated on Princeton admissions website: " Dec. 15: Early Action admission and financial aid decisions mailed and made available online."

Previous description was “Mid December.”

So folks, we have a date! (I also have a SCEA applicant this round).

11 days everyone! anyone know what time of day the admissions decisions come out?

I believe decisions get released at 5PM EST

I’m literally counting down each day, and have been. It’s almost sad.

Haha Saugus…me too…
I bought a Princeton sweatshirt with a tiger face on it. It still has all the tags. I am hoping to be able to wear it on December 16th…

This is unnerving…

I’m fully expecting a rejection, but we’ll see.

@saugus I have a countdown in my assignment notebook haha. (You aren’t the only one!)

APRookie…so you DID apply REA to Princeton as well as EA to both Villanova and Boston College?

Busted, APRookie. If your comments in the BC and Villanova threads are true, then it was very uncool for you to apply SCEA to Princeton.

Can’t schools tell if you’ve applied to more than one school early action?
Sorry but I don’t think you’ll be able to slide past Princeton’s watchful eye…

@APRookie

It doesn’t even matter if you get accepted if they decide to do a background check through CommonApp and find out that you applied EA elsewhere.

First of all, I’m not “busted.”

I’ll be the first to admit that I messed up. When I applied to these schools, 'Nova, BC, and Princeton, I wasn’t at all aware that Princeton was SCEA, or what SCEA even meant. I got excited and I applied without reading through all of the requirements thoroughly.

It was only after one of my friends alerted me of my mistake that I knew. I felt really bad. Unfortunately, by that time, it was too late to change it. I didn’t do it on purpose. :/

I don’t think I would get in anyway, so it doesn’t really matter after all.

P.S. If I was really trying to get away with doing something underhanded, I certainly wouldn’t have posted in both the BC and Villanova threads…just saying.

People do make mistakes. However, honest people own up to them. You should notify Princeton of your mistake and asked to be considered for the RD pool instead.

Also, I highly doubt that you legitimately “made a mistake.” Throughout the application process, Princeton is quite clear that you can’t apply anywhere else early. Honestly, it looks like you’re trying to cover up for a clear ethical breach which you’d better hope Princeton doesn’t find out about.
