Princeton University Homework Load and Grading System

Hi all! I was reading a lot about Princeton’s grade deflation, not too sure if this policy is still in place. But, I just wanted to ask your opinions on Princeton’s Course Load (how much homework you get per night) and the grading system. I’ve heard that it was VERY hard to get an A, but easy to get a B. Looking forward to hear your insight! Thanks

The university ended its grade deflation policy (which limited the number of A grades to no more than 35% of students in a course) in 2014. As a result, GPAs have rebounded.

From the university’s page on grading:

“In September 2020 the Faculty Committee on Examinations and Standing reported on the grading results for Academic Year [AY] 2019-20. The grade point average for the University as a whole, in 100-400 level courses across all departments and programs, increased .056 points over the past year, from 3.464 in AY 18-19 to 3.520 in AY 19-20.”

Also, according to a Daily Princetonian analysis, in 2018-2019, 55% of course grades were A’s (A+/A/A-), 34% were B’s, and 6% were C’s. Less than 1% were D’s or F’s, and the remainder were P’s (for classes taken pass/fail).
