Princeton Violence

Within the last few weeks, there have been two robberies at gunpoint in residential princeton neighborhoods.

There was also a racially based street fight between Blood and Latin King affiliates. About 20 teenagers battling it out with knives and sticks in downtown near the public library. (just last week)

Not to mention a kid who dropped out of the public high school got shot dead in Trenton, and a current senior there was paralyzed with a bullet in his spine also in trenton. (since september)

Oh right, and a hispanic man got beaten incredibly severely by some blacks, and another black set his two pitbulls on a hispanic man. (since september)

Pretty crazy for a typically quiet and peaceful town, eh?

well, that's what you get in jersey

But Princeton isn't really part of New Jersey...haha

really, does it exist in its own alternate universe. Please explain that

lol, if thats bad....then i dont want u to hear about stuff that happens on the mean streets of Los Angeles....murder capitol of the nation, baby...two years in a row

:</p>

So much for Princeton being a place "where one can safely walk after midnight"...

ahahahahahahah 20 kids? that's it? what a kiddie fest. you know what you do in a situation like that? RUNNNNNN, MOTHATRUKA! RUNNNNNNN!
btw, who is the Latin King? 've never of heard of him. Are they affiliated with the Cholos? Because alot of Crips, Bloodz, and Cholos don't honor the Peace Treay in '92, but they're basically offshoots of the mainstream gang. Werd up.

i think that quote refers to on campus

Yeah....when I was walking around after midnight the campus seemed completely safe, lol. You can't exactly tag Princeton with the Trenton incidents, either.

haha, that's just what I was thinking, kebree. Not even close. Anyways, I for one am in no way concerned about safety on campus or off (maybe off a little more so than on, but that's just because of the nature of being off campus). Princeton's orange bubble is not bulletproof, but it's pretty dang good. I'll take it :)

no princeton is a really safe town; thats why these events come as quite a shock. The connection with trenton is the kids getting shot there seem to be drawing gang activity into the town. The high school was put on lockdown a month or 2 ago due to a gang threat against a kid there. I dont mean to equate it to los angeles at all. I'm just saying this is very out of character for a town that has had like 1 murder in the last 14 years.

The campus is very safe at any time. I can't ride my mountain bike there (by ride I mean jump off stuff and do tricks) without getting carded for a PU ID. Shady looking kids sitting around there would get picked up for sure, and you cant drive onto campus without going through a checkpoint (some are even gated).

With the princeton is not new jersey I meant that princeton is a really upscale town for one, and isnt full of factories and polution, secondly.

um. that kinda stuff happens in every city that ever existed. i mean , seriously people. there are billions of gang wars in houston alone every day, especially in the university areas. i mean, UH is in the middle of houston's most famous ghetto.

yes but princeton is a place where stuff like this really doesnt happen. There has been like 1 murder in princeton in the last 20 years i think. the last time anyone got killed by violence was someone robbing a bank holding a lady hostage getting shot by the SWAT team. Princeton=small upscale shopping town, houston=big city.

my mom went to U of H! Haha, that was random, but...no one ever mentions that school. But yeah, Princeton...definitely shouldn't be hearing its name brought up in negative "campus safety" or "city safety" discussions.

finally someone who gets my point. NOT comparing princeton to LA or anything, just saying that princetons police blotter has moved from "disorderly conduct," "DUI," and "my bike was stolen" to "Wanted for 2 counts of armed robbery," and "Aggravated assault w/ possesions of an illegal weapon for illegal purposes."
