Princeton vs. Dartmouth

Would like to hear from any current Dartmouth student who chose Dartmouth over Princeton. What a great decision to have to make! Would like to hear your reasons.

personally i would choose princeton :) but that's only because i'd choose princeton over ANY school ... i'd choose princeton over MIT, harvard, yale, stanford -- any school! i applied early to princeton and got deferred :( it was very upsetting. i've wantd to go to princeton since middle school sooo i guess thats my rationale for choosing princeton

I did. I've always loved Dartmouth (legacy). Love the outdoors activities (own ski hill among other things). Love the language program. The spirit of the school.

Thanks. The outdoor activities are indeed awesome!

What I like about Dartmouth over Princeton: outdoors, more "laid back," social scene is casual (feels less showy/ WASPy/ elitist), the D-plan (sophomore summer, multiple study abroads), ski mountain/ river next to campus.

Dartmouth fer sure

interesting; I have a child at one and a very close professional knowledge of the other. Two of my children applied to D.

While both are great institutions, and students are happy at both, my observation is that the undergraduate opportunities are vastly greater at Princeton. For academics, resources, financial aid, access to amazing faculty, and the demands of the academic environment with strong support for students, I would choose Princeton for an undergraduate.

Having said this, college choice is personal and you could be wonderfully happy at either P or D.
