I was accpted to both Princeton and dartmouth. Which offers better academics for someone who plans on going to med school or law school. I think I want to major in Politics/Government. How is social life, dorm conditions, and overall friendliness? Please any comments will do

I liked Dartmouth, and found Princeton a bit stuffy. But I'm a bad person to answer, because I'm hunting for grad schools.

Have you visited both? You really ought to go out there and see which one appeals to you more, you'll figure it out pretty quickly on your own.

It was reported at a sporting event between the two schools last year the Dartmouth students chanted...Princeton's in New Jersey....Princeton's in New Jersey.

The Princeton students replied....Dartmouth was my safety...Dartmouth was my safety.

I laughed when i heard it.:)

New Jersey, a town with millions of people with 10 steady jobs.

And Bon Jovi.

Keep in mind that if you ask on the dart board they're biased towards dart, and on the pton board, they're biased towards pton.

HA HA! "Dartmouth was my safety!" HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! I LOVE PRINCETON! GO TIGERS '09!!!!

UCLA, what are you talkin' about? Princeton, NJ is an upper middle class burb of NYC. And it is a state, not a town.

I'd have chosen Princeton out of those two because of a slight academic edge and (for me) a better location, but I don't think the academic differences are significant enough to justify turning Dartmouth down if you prefer it for personal reasons. The location difference alone is significant enough to have a real impact on your experience if you aren't the small-town type, or if you really love the wilderness.

It's a reference to Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Maybe it was too long ago...

Princeton and Dartmouth are perhaps the two most similar schools in the ivy league. From my experiences with both schools, I would say social life, dorm conditions, and overall friendliness are the same at both. Dartmouth seems to have a stronger frat atmosphere than Princeton though. Academics at the two are comparable but Princeton definately has stronger programs across the board. Princeton has better law/medical/business school placement than Dartmouth although Dartmouth is second only to HYPS in this respect. You say you are interested in Politics/Government and it seems that Princeton's Woodrow Wilson school would probably be of interest to you.
If it effects your decision at all, Princeton also has a stronger athletic program but both seem to have the most school spririt of all the schools in the ivy league. However, most of these diferences don't really matter much since they are both fantastic schools. Nevertheless, given the better location (at leats in my opinion) and arguably stronger academics, I'd say Princeton is the better choice.
