Princeton vs Pomona?

Hey, it's great that my daughter got into these two schools. Without tipping my hand, can some current or future students/parents give me the pros and cons of each? And also, if someone could describe the type of student who would thrive in each environment? Thanks so much!

Pomona has intellectual , talented but very non-assuming laid back students. Students are casual, friendly and everyone is accepted. There is so much going on with the 4 colleges there that students are reluctant to leave campus at times, though there is plenty to do in LA. The school caters to students, it has been compared to an amazing summer camp with a lot of work. Students are fairly liberal. Princeton can be more stressful. A close friend had an extremely stressful undergraduate career at Princeton,he took a year off to work at a ski resort to recouperate. He got into med school and felt it was a breeze after his experience at Princeton. AND I realize that is only 1 example. I had two cousins graduate from there and they are doing well in their careers. My son is at Pomona and it has been a great experience for him. He had an opportunity to author a paper, do research from sophomore year on and will be presenting at a National Conference. He also has had a lot of fun along the way. 2 great choices! Many folks have not heard of Pomona and everyone has heard of Princeton if that is a factor for her. Best of luck!

I'm thinking both have their respective pros and cons. I was just hoping to hear from someone who had to make a similar choice and whether they think they made the right one.

They really are both great schools, but I would say that Princeton is a much more established research institution. Students are casual, friendly, and accepting at Princeton as well. I would say in the grand scheme of things the demeanor of 90% of college students in the United States' top schools will inevitably be much the same. Most will be hard-working, talented, friendly, and open-minded. Princeton students do work very hard, but it is false to say that Princeton students do not have a lot of fun. As a Princeton student, I certainly have fun here, and the challenging workload is a lot to handle but it makes your classes very meaningful and fulfilling.

It really comes down to you and you alone, so log off CC, do the research, make a phone call, visit the campuses if you can, and make a decision with the best of your ability taking your future into full account. Thats the best we can do.
