Princeton Waitlist 2017

definitely.

let’s see if our predictions were right, greenroses :D

The wait list is definitely being used - got the much-anticipated phone call today!

More info? Geographical location? Profile of niche (athlete, STEM, humanities, etc.)?

Southeastern city, private school, white male, 2400 SAT, “niche” is math (taking graduate courses at nearby university).

Out of curiosity, what time of day were you called?

My school college counselor told me today that Princeton told him that the offers would be very small in number. Btw, I am a legacy, 2270, East coast, private boarding school, caucasian male, fluent in arabic, straight-A student with strong extra-curriculars hoping to major in Near Eastern Studies. (I am already admitted to an Ivy, so am on the wait list to please my alumnus father.)

The yield just announced:

[Breaking: Yield for Class of 2017 increases to 68.7 percent - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2013/05/09/33544/)

We can assume a figure of anywhere from 0 to potentially 40 spots open for waitlist students after summer melt and gap year deferrals then, based on past summer melt statistics. I think it will be a rather conservative number of approximately 10 to 20 spots.

@Kestrel912 about 12:45 (during lunch at school - talk about unexpected!)

lol that’s so awesome haha, the princeton ug admissions committee making decisions over lunch

@iamcuriousbrown: ok

good luck to all! hope for the best but prep for the worse

Thanks, @manifold. Congratulations!

Thanks, @Kestrel912. So excited.

@manifold- congrats!! Do you mind sharing what you did to pursue the waitlist?

On the waitlist myself as well. @Greenroses, there honestly isn’t much we can do to “pursue” the waitlist. At this point it’s completely a matter of luck, even more so than regular admissions. They’re trying to fill the “holes” in their class and if you fit, lucky you!

@Greenroses Hadiram is probably right about this, but for what it’s worth, I sent extra materials to the math department. I don’t know whether that had any effect.

Anyone know when most waitlisted students are contacted? Also, if they call me and I don’t pick up (i.e. because I’m at school and my phone is on silent), what happens?

@mirandabeane: It seems that admissions is still in committee and waiting to see the results of summer melt. I think we will hear about our decisions anywhere from late May to mid-June in waves.

The same thing a friend, relative, or parent would do. Leave a voicemail, call again, call a friend of yours (in this case, the counselor is your friend), etc.

shout out to greenroses for getting off the WL
