princeton- what grades do they look at?

I had thought that princeton look at grades 9-12. however, recently I heard from someone that they do not look at grade 9. Is this true? Do they look at grades in certain grades more so that in other grades? thanks

They don't consider grades from freshman year, but because they wanted to be consistent with common app they do request those grades from you. So they see the grades but they don't matter (supposedly, although if your grades were really bad it would stand out I think).

hmm I had never hear anything like that, but it would certainly help my case ;)
so... bump

they also place additional weight to grades you recieved in college prep courses (i.e. AP or IB classes)

is it factored into our GPA though? freshmen grades, i mean

Yes I believe they recalculate a GPA for you, based on their own system of what each class weighs.

wow... that's awsome! I'd have a 4.0 after thinking that it'll never be possible again for all these years :D

lol perhaps, but we don't know what their system is...

Oh well, makes me happy just the same. It makes the process more human, you know? :)

Adds to the great mystery of college adcoms :p

yes kneels before incense and prays silently

lol hahaha
pray for all of us :D

well... i kinda have to play favorites since spots are limited...

lol j/k, all the CC people should fit ;)

lol somehow I knew you'd say that.
But yea, at least during ED, there was such a strong bond here...I really wish we had all gotten in, but meh we'll see.

yeah... i guess i'll just have to say something like "may the most deserving get in" instead of "pick me! pick me!"

I skipped the 10th grade, so will they look at my frosh year then??

Yes, I'm sure they would. They need more grades than your junior year grades.

hmm.... Im an int'l. I got a 3.85 UW, 4.0 UW, now a 3.85 UW (4.47 W), across three schools, in two countries, in three years. so...do u think my GPA is going to show im "smart" because i was able to manage well after skipping? also the fact is that ivies look at SATs more than GPAs for Int'l because they arent used to the gpa calculations and the difficulty level. because i have 3 gpas which are all pretty much close to each other, will they know that all of them cant be wrong, and therefore consider it more?

zante...did you get deferred? and i want to be on an adcom, just so i can laugh when i reject people from my school. lol =). but yeah adcoms are so intriguing..

For awhile, I thought it might be interesting to be an Adcom, but recently, I was on a committee to hire a new principal for my HS, and it was... not... fun... at... all. From our side, there's just so much mystery about the whole process, but I think they view it as huge piles of papers and hours of comparing applications that all begin to look the same after the caffeine wears off.
