Where else are you thinking?

Princeton, Duke, Wash U, Williams, U Penn, UVA, Brown, Cornell?, Emory?, Lehigh?, NYU? Probably even more if I don't get in

If I do get in: Princeton, Duke, Williams, U Penn(if I feel like doing the essays), Wash U

Or so I think now; once I read the letter I feel like everything will change

you?

Some ideas: Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Amherst, Whitman (Washington state), Harvard?, Haverford?, Williams?.

Then come safety/merit aid schools such as Grinell or Franklin and Marshall. That is where the hard decision lay.

** "I'm applying to Princeton, too, but only for its curriculum. Anything else, the people I saw there, its website, its viewbook, the info session, really bored me. It seems kind of preppy and uninteresting. Yale is so much better!! (but then again, most people reading this would agree that it is.) "**

** EXCUSE ME!!!!?!!!! **

contemplates hitting "report offensive post"

Sorry if I offended you, Encomium. I see you have applied to Princeton (just checked). However, it's just an opinion from one person; it's nothing to flip out over. I was simply stating which aspects of Princeton I liked and which aspects I did not like. I do not think a candid evaluation can be considered an offensive post, especially if it's not directed toward a person but rather to an institution.

lol, suburbian, I wasn't offended, i'm just kidding around with you

I like Yale too!

:)

Good luck on the 15th/16th!

And, having just gotten deferred from Princeton, I think I might want to be a Yalie lol.

so many converts! :p

I'm excited that the princeton board has such a high acceptance rate this year so far! It's hovering around 40-42% :). Let's hope Yale can come close to that and beat the ~22% admit rate from last year.

Newt--a lot of those were lurkers who just came out and posted for the 1st or 2nd time. Most of the regulars get deferred, and few (mercurysquad, astrix, randomgr, theappleisblue, legendofmax, and me) haven't received letters. This is looking like another possible CC massacre....sighs

True, but the overall rate is still higher than last year, right?

They both got in to Yale.

by the way, Yalies, P-town is ranked #1 with Harvard. Where is Yale?

Plus, you will live in New Haven!

Kebree, did you hear from Princeton yet? You must stop by the Yale board and post your result for us. We all love you, even if you love Princeton more than Yale.

Pffft, they are all excellent schools. Lol, I'd be happy at any of them (mostly yale though for varoius reasons).

Wow. Reading the Princeton board is like getting hit in the face with reality. Very depressing. I guess I should start cutting myself off from CC, gradually, so that by the time I get my decision, I won't miss you guys too much. :(

Do you think more newcomers get acceptances than do regulars? Why do you think that is?

Because regulars waste too much time on CC? Or because newcomers don't want to post that they were deferred/rejected.

I just think that if you don't post as much you're not as likely to admit less than stellar news. Even the regulars will be slower posting bad news. It's why it appears CCers are so much better than the general populace. I don't think regulars are more prone to rejection/deferral however (if that's so, than that's bad luck for me next year)

llamapyjamas: thanks; no--I haven't gotten a letter yet. I called the post office and they said that it should arrive tomorrow (Kentucky is later than the rest of the US, m'eh). So I'm holding out hope. But still, it's been very hard to watch so many people I'd hoped to see in Princeton receive deferrals. Perhaps I shouldn't have gotten so attached to the CC crowd :/

I posted a few days ago about taking Yale off my list---but I don't know. It just seems that I'd have absolutely no chance at Yale RD if I'm deferred Princeton ED.

Good luck to all of you! Hope for some success, even given the not-so-hot results other boards have gotten. It's certainly possible.
