my public school has 2000+ kids, and the principal doesn't know most of us personally. i'm international, and my school doesn't have a guidance counselor. furthermore, i don't know any of the deans personally. who should i give it to? and does it actually matter, since they could just read my file and ask my teachers about me? finally is there the problem of the teachers sabotaging your rec if they don't want you to leave?

I suggest you make an appointment to sit and chat with your principle. This is the best way for him/her to get to know you. Make a brief resume about yourself. Include things you would really like him/her to know about you. Things like what you’re passionate about, sports, music, charity work ect. Basically the same things you want your future school to know about you. Leave that resume with the principle. Don’t be afraid to follow up with that person and your teachers before the recs are due. A good way to do that is to drop in and ask if they sent the recs in and is there any more information they need from you.:)
