Do I need to bring my own printer?
can I share that with my roommates if it is ethernet ready?

A printer's handy. An all-in-one (flatbed scanner, printer) is even handier. They're also relatively inexpensive now (they make money off of ink and paper).

I recommend each person getting their own. That way you avoid conflict over paying for ink cartridges and paper - especially when one person uses far more than the other.

I agree with ucsducladad. I definitely recommend that you bring your own printer to avoid any unnecessary conflicts with the roomies.

Printers are amazingly cheap nowadays (and has been) and still print decently. You wouldn't really need one as there are plenty everywhere - but as mentioned above, it's convenient.

I would also agree with never sharing anything that's consumable unless it's once in a long while.

wait till thanksgiving they usually have good printers for free after mail in rebates

theres printers around campus, but they cost money to print and its just a hassle. definitely bring your own printer. basic color printers can be had for like $30 or less.

would it be cheaper to print at the library or somewhere than to buy ink and print on your own printer?

possibly...it would depend on how much you print.

food for thought: everyone i know has their own printer, and every room i've been in, each person had their own printer.

of course its up to you ultimately, but i really, really recommend getting one of your own.

Printing at UCLA is more about convenience than price. You should ask your roommate(s) if they are bringing a printer; If no one else is bringing one (or they don't want to share) then you should buy one at Best Buy when you arrive at UCLA. Although it's cheaper to print on-campus or in the residential computer labs, it's inconvenient to spend 10-15 minutes walking there and back everytime you want to print something.

not to mention its an uphill walk both ways. ;)

That's why you print in the residential computer labs, and avoid campus entirely.

My printer is pretty much the dumbest thing ever, so I always print stuff in the computer lab located in my dorm... it's like 5 cents a page black & white, dunno color.

if the computer lab is right in your residential hall, wouldn't it be a good idea to print there? or is it better to print color there and black/white with our printers?
