Hey question for NYU students: what's the printer situation like at NYU? Is it worth it to purchase a printer or can we just use school printers? Are those free? Is there a limit to the number of sheets we are allowed?

I posted this in the NYU 2014 by mistake but I really meant to put it on the main board haha

If you are in Stern you will get 1500 free pages of printing which carries over the semesters. Otherwise you will have to put cash on your nyu id which is 10 cents a page. It can get pretty costly, I usually only keep a few dollars of printing cash on my card in case of emergencies. It will probably be worth it for you to get a printer. I printed out hundreds of sheets for practice exams, review, notes, readings for classes like conwest and world cultures.

^Not only Stern. I’m in CAS and we got the same number of free printing last year. I’m not sure if the rules have changed though. I would bring a printer if you have one so you don’t have to go to a lab every time you want to print out a two page response.

There are printing labs all over NYU campus (Bobst, Steinhardt building, one near Silver, one in Kimmel) and in some of the dorms (I know Weinstein at the CLC and Third North) so they are all pretty accessible. Often there are big lines between classes though.

Well CAS does 500 free pages I believe but that free printing was only available in kimmel and 3rd north. They changed the policy because of costs last year, maybe they will change it since so many students are complaining.

Bobst doesn’t have free printing. All other labs (Washington Place, 3rd North, Steinhardt) have free printing. I’m in Steinhardt and we also have the 500 duplex pages. (500 double sided pages per semester.)
