Printer???

Obviously school is out and I have nothing better to do than think about packing S up for school. So what’s the opinion on bringing a printer? I know there is free printing somewhere on campus. Just wondering if most of the students take advantage of that or they just use their personal printers in their rooms?

The dorms rooms are a lot smaller than you’d think. If space will not be a problem, I think bringing a printer is a good idea.
I tend to write research papers/essays better at late nights. Having a printer in my room would be a good thing for that purposes.

we debated this for my daughter (who was a freshman last year). we ended up moving her in without a printer (with the idea we could get her one if she needed it). She was glad she didn’t have one in her room from the space perspective.

She managed fine with printing in the Library and at NW Quads (where she ate most of her meals). For her it was not an issue - I think it all boils down to your son’s study habits, as well as what he gets into the habit of doing.

I didn’t bring my own printer after my freshman year- even aside from space, the dorms had free in-hall printing as well (although it was frequently broken) and I was normally close enough to either the Union, library, quad, or one of the academic buildings’ labs that it wasn’t much of a hassle to go there to print something off.
