printers

are any of you buying printers to go with your computers?
i don't know if i want to. it would be more convenient to have one in my room, but ink can get realy expensive.

My printer was practically free with some deal that I got when I bought my computer...however I think I might buy one of those printers/scanners/copiers because I use one a lot at my house now.
yeah, inks expensive but so is paying 10 cents a copy to print stuff in the library...not to mention that having your own printer is a lot less hassle and can be used 24/7

We just discussed this very topic:

If you just need to print mostly black and white stuff, and don't mind not having a color printer, then get a laser; it will really save you on ink/toner costs:

I'll add that I'm also considering a multi-function machine, since I heavily use a scanner.

See if your school has free printers you can use.

Just a comment about something I wish I ahd known before we purchased our dell printer. The only use dell ink cartridges, which can only be purchaed through DEll. Obviously, we'll send extras w/ our S. But things do get lost.
And you can't run out to Staples to replace the ink the same day.

My recommendation is the Smasung ML-1740, an extremely inexpensive and small laser printer that handles text with ease (I've never printed anything but text). It can be had for around $100. I would take it over an inkjet any day
