anyone in the public health school?:)

^ I believe that’s where Kinesiology falls, so my son would be there.

I’m doing kinesiology too!

Decision: Accepted

I was not admitted to the Business LEP but that’s okay as I’ve decided against a business major. Looking at biochem/health/kinesiology/IR with pre-med wherever I go. (not all 4 lol, I haven’t decided on one)

I also don’t see anything about Scholars so that’s surprising, I thought I had good stats. It’s probably because I missed the priority deadline due to late transcripts. Or I’m just blind. Still dumbfounded as to how this happened. I missed the priority deadline for Barrett by about a month due to processing but still got my acceptance a week before the in-state priority applicants LOL.

@jkeil911

That’s quite a change, tbb, but it kinda fits with your interests in bb, right?

as I understand it, remember, whatever, you’re defaulted to Letters and Sciences, correct? If you’re going to change to the public health school (forego biochem), do you need to go thru a competitive application process there, as you would have with Business?

I’ve always wanted to become a Dr… But when I was applying I thought Econ/Biz would be doable with pre-med. After some research I’ve decided to do a more traditional path. Now that I have two state schools that are $20k a year I’m not as worried about backup career options as I would be if the bill was $60k per year. By saving all that money my backup will be to go to law school, get an MPH, go to PT school, or something like that. Always have a contingency plan. I love government/history so I’d make a good lawyer.

Orthopedic sports surgery is the dream. Fits my interests & personality perfectly but it’s uber competitive so I’m not going to look that far into the future. I’d be totally fine with just being a regular physician and I’ll do things that pique my other interests outside of work. One goal is to be self-employed down the line and I’ll put a lot of weight into that when thinking about specialties. I’ll even be sure to shadow some dentists while in college to see what that’s like, dad pushes me towards that route every time we go to the dentist lol. He could have became one…idk why he didn’t.

As each day passes, the more and more I want to enroll already.

Also, I received a letter today from admissions with more information on the Honors College and the LLPs (being that I was accepted).

The fields you are listing are incredibly far apart teenbodybuilder. And they are all hyper competitive. Props to you for dreaming big but maybe you should really shadow each of these professions before committing your life plan to it. A love for govt does not mean a love for being a lawyer…going to law school is not a good backup plan imo

Plan to not need a backup so I’ll start thinking about options seriously if I don’t make it into med school after at least 2 cycles and/or a post bac. (If all else fails) Just ideas off the top of my head that I might like, are employable, and make good money.

Again, I plan to be in a position to never have to worry about a second choice.

It is February and I still have not received an update…when should we know

TBB…love your optimism but everyone should have a backup plan.

My backup is grad school of some kind. I know law school has no pre reqs, if I do good on the LSAT I could likely network my way into Georgetown Law; if I had to go to a non T14, I could still network my way into a job in DC due to my family’s connections.

But tbh I enjoy and am very strong in science (5 in AP Bio, current A+ in AP Chem) so I think I’ll be successful. You won’t find a more dedicated person than a bber.

Wait, okay, so for confirmation purposes:

If I submit my UMD Housing Agreement, I’m not obligated to go, right?!

That is correct. UMD wants you signed up even if you withdraw because they accommodate in coming Freshmen first. This policy really affects the juniors and seniors that want to stay on campus if that makes sense.
